Well, he DID run Disney Consumer Products...

True Confessions - I haven't read the entire thread, but to me the sad part is - why would they kill Fender Japan, re-imagine their entire worldwide strategy, make all sorts of - what appeared to be impulse decisions about the product line - and THEN hire someone to come in and straighten it all out? Is that a little back assward?

I mean, I don't know the history - maybe he knew he was the guy for a while, did his analysis months ago - and approved all the those decisions, but it doesn't sound to me that it went down like that.

Knee jerk reaction - tell me what I am missing...

Looks like a Guardians of the Galaxy deleted scene.

I know the jokes are easy to come by, but IME Disney is an extremely well-run company. I hope this helps Fender gain more focus on the customer experience.

Oh absolutely. I played bass at Epcot at Morocco for a few years as a sub. Great band that was fun to play with. That company is incredible. The managers legitimately care that kids have an awesome experience. Excellence was always stressed. Sounds good for fender.

Most here know little about Disney, or evidently Fender. Given where Fender currently sits (f'd up) this is nothing but positive. Fender already outsources. Fender has a broken retail model (*cough* GC), and muddled branding. Disney CP is the opposite of that. I don't think he's being brought in to scuttle the company. As a fan, he probably thinks he can turn it around and given his track record, he might be able to do it. No doubt he'll piss of some here with his decisions, but not clear that tB is actually a top-notch consulting resource ;-)

Yeah DCP is one of the tightest run ships at Disney. Disney is one of the most demanding companies I've ever worked for in terms of politics and employee expectation, and I've literally worked at a company where I'd see Rupert Murdoch wandering the halls.....

This is probably a dream job for him, I honestly would be shocked if he did a bad job.

chances are if this news wasn't public information none of us would notice a difference.

they'll continue to make "fender instruments-" weather you think its junky for the price, or the standard by which all others are judged, thats still what they're gonna make.

I think they already have an active fretless 9 string Pixar model in the works.
The Pixar model would have one really fat rubbery string and three frets, and also an adorable little face. He would be bad-tempered and whiney, but in the end he would realize that everything he was looking for was right there the whole time, with his besties guitarry and drummy. Awwwwww...
