What 5 string bass has the best feeling/playing neck?

All 5-string basses have the best necks a 5-string can have, but individuals have differing opinions on which guitars they blame for their bad playing. I've never played a bass that I didn't think a good set-up could make playable, 4, 5 or 6 string. Bad QUALITY is a different story however...

i always liked G&L Tribute l2500, really nice and chubby neck, but some warwicks are really nice

My Brubaker Brutes. I thought I really liked the neck on my MJX-5. but the MJXSC5 has it beat

I'd say my Sadowsky, Lakland, Fodera, Drozd, F Bass, LeCompte and Yamaha necks all play like a dream. Also my Fender Jazz basses. My Mustang bass, not so much. I like thin (not narrow) necks, and these basses have survived weeding out for that reason. I dislike EB MM necks. Baseball bats.

From what I've played: Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V, Fender Am Dlx Jazz V, Lakland DJ5. They actually go from very curved to flatter, but those have been my favorite 3, in order.

These are 3 of my favorite necks here. If that Marcus had a flatter fingerboard, I would still have it. I currently own a DJ5, best $ I've ever spent on a bass. Fender AM DLX, if it only had full spacing at the bridge, but a killer nonetheless

I can tell you that the LEJ, the 5'er, has a good feeling neck if you like fast necks. The strings sit nice and low and it's definitely a good bass for slapping.

If anybody can chime in on the Nordy VJ5 neck vs. the LEJ neck I'd like to get your impressions. Is the Nordy slightly thinner? If you can't compare it to the Nordy how about the Lakland necks?

I really like the EBMM SR5 and the SBMM Ray35. Great neck on both.

For me it's my Spector Rex 5 Tbird style bass. Thin front to back neck and a nice radius on the fb. Very fast and easy to get around on and the B string is no slouch.

For me I woud have to generally concur with the large votes for the following models already on this forum.

1. LAKLAND
2. TOBIAS (pre Gibson)
3. Ken Smith
4. SPECTOR (Kramer era--STUPID RARE--I'll buy if anyone has one for sale )
5. MUSIC MAN STINGRAY.

I have not played a NORDY, though they get consistent mention from other TB'ers on their great necks.
SADOWSKY's are okay, I guess ?

Too bad you couldn't head over to Nashville and go to the Low End Bass Shop and try out some LEJ's and other basses there. They have a bunch of high end stuff. Ibbie BTB 405 and 455.

They were so freaking fast that I bought 2 of the 6 String Variants.

There is a thick coat of dust on the 405 and 455 cases as I have not returned to them.

I did like a Ken Smith Special Order 6 that Atlanta Bass Gallery had back in May of 2011, so the same in 5 would be nice I suppose.

I am still curious about a Status. That is probably my next be all end all, if I am ever going to buy a bass over $1000 again. That will be after I use up all of the BTB 400 Series left in the world.
