Alembic F-1X preamp - have GASed for one of these for years and am glad I finally got around to buying one. It's the exact tone that I've always wanted.

QSC PLX1804 - because it only weighs 13lbs and has 2x900w on tap.

SWR Goliath Jr (x3) - having 3 of these cabs gives me complete flexibility to configure my rig to suit different gig situations, and doesn't break my back or require me to own a truck.

Carvin B1500 head, and two Carvin BRX10.2 Neos.

why? because i got really really really lucky. found them used. and i don't want anything else. i haven't a reason to think this isn't the perfect amp for me. now that i'm happy with my tone, and power, i haven't even bothered looking around for alternate tones on other amps. why? i love what i've got and man am i grateful for it.

peace, love, carvin.

Despite you having the sickest SN on TB, your gear attitude is right on...get a rig you like and can depend on, and go play.

i use an old peavey T-max 500 watt head (new slovtek 12ax7 groove tube!!!! improved the sound tenfold) into a traynor 810 with no effects. i know the 810 is alittle overkill but i couldnt find a reasonably priced non-ported 410 (i hate having woof and no fundamental). i run the amp with a VERY slight overdrive to blend with our guitarist (uses a hi gain sound with a fender blues delux). o and i also have a korg rack mount tuner (usless mute function....ugh). im pretty happy with my amp so far. i cut some trebble after about 2khz and boost around 250hz, gives me a great blues/rock sound.

if you wanna hear us listen in tomorow on 102.7fm at 7 o'clock pm (if ur in the vancouver BC area)

Mesa/Boogie D-180 head
Ampeg SVT15E cab
Ashdown Mag 210 cab.

The D-180 gets that tube grit I like so much, but it doesn't have to be deafeningly loud to do so (though it certainly can be). If I'm not playing metal/rock, I can get a very nice, warm clean sound as well. I just got this amp a few months ago and I'm really loving it.

The SVT15E is the main cab. If I only bring one cab, this one is it. I love how warm and growly it sounds. I've always loved 15" speakers.

The Mag 210 I got to go with the 15. It adds more volume and some extra punchiness. I don't use this cab alone though, as by itself it's more cold sounding than the 15.

My amps...Peavey T-MAX, SWR SM-400S, Fender Bassman135.

My cabs. All homebrew. A 210 w/eden speakers, a 212 w/eminence speakers, a 115 w/ a black widow, a 112 w/ a carvin, and a 118w/a dayton. All are 8ohms, any combination works with any amp.

Someday I'll get how to post pictures here.....:D

Love 'em all, none are for sale.

I don't play many electric gigs these days, but when I do, these usually do the trick, depending on the size of the stage/venue:

Larger:

SWR Redhead 2x10 combo over Son of Bertha - plenty of meat for the largest stages I play, at least to compete in the stage mix, and purchased used for less than $1k. I only use this about 10 times a year, and usually while touring, so it's also broken down for an easier load in/out than a full sized cab like an 8x10.

Smaller

EA iAmp 350 combo over CXL 110. A small stack that gets my ohm load down to 4 and gives me enough speaker surface to fill the smaller stages/venues. I can also use this effectively for louder Double Bass gigs, like with Salsa/Cuban bands or larger stages where my DB gear (AI Contra) aren't quite enough.

If I needed something bigger than the SWR Setup, it would be rare enough that I'd just rent. I'll save my bread for upgrading my double basses.

My current rigs:

heads:
GK 700 RBII-loved the tone, price, durability, and GK customer service
EA iAmp 350-picked it up in a trade and loved the tone (currently my church rig)

cabs:
2 Avatar B212's-best bang for the buck
Tube Works 410-got it for a good price and has plenty of thump
SWR 210-nice little addition to the 212

effects:
Alesis 3630 compressor-was given to me by my keyboard player and is a decent compressor
BBE Sonic Maximizer-really allows my tone to be heard in a crowded room with bad acoustics, plus works well with the Alesis3630 compressor

You host the image on a free image hosting site.

The way you do this is by setting up an account there, for example on photobucket. Then to upload images, you hit the button on there to do so (it's pretty big). Then you click browse, which brings up a view of one of your file folders (usually "My Pictures"). You click the image. It then uploads.

Then you copy the image location by right clicking the image.

To post it here, you paste the image location, and then type
right after it. Then the image is visible. Or you could just hit the insert image button at the top of the reply box.

GK 700rbII
GK Neo 112 and 212..... Both series 1..... I love the smaller footprint.

I love this rig. 112 for small stuff. 212 for med stuff. Both for bigger venues. Light and loud!

Normally, I'm running a Radial Bassbone, with a Korg Pitch Black tuner, and an EBS MultiComp (in tubesim). I'll usually take two basses to gig..... my primary player will have flats, and the second is strung with rounds.

Fender TB-600 into an Orange OBC115. The amp can do overdrive, or it can do warm and clean, with about as much tubey goodness as a hybrid can attain. Telefunkens in V1 and V2 make it that much better. After going through many cabs, including Aguilar, Eden and Avatar, I'm home with a fifteen. I hope to get another!

Main rig. Ampeg SVT6 through 8-10 cab. Why? The head is the best I've found for versatility. It has a nice tube pre section with driver tubes but the voltage control lets you all but "bypass" those drivers for a more "solid state" sound. It has a nice EQ section with para mids, on board comp, and lots of other options as well as 1100W. The cab does the low-mid punch thing very well which is where I like my tone to sit on stage.

Backup rig is an SWR SuperRedhead and Triad cab. So what I wind up with is 3 10s and a 15. All ported cabs. I had the top rewired in parallel so that the watts are devided evenly (225W to each cab). The top combo and the Triad both have horns which the Ampeg doesn't. This rig does the more "modern" "hi-fi" sound a little better than the Ampeg rig.

I do mostly fill-in stuff these days so it's nice to have both rigs for different sounds. Plus, if I have two shows in a day, I can give one rig to the sound company for the first gig and take the second with me. (I work for the sound company that does most shows around here so I have that option)
