What are you playing? and Why?

ampeg svt classic with gk810rbx
old ampeg V4B with avatar 410neo
p bass and jazz bass

spare equipment....hartke ha3500, genz benz 410t, acoustic 370, numerous basses i have built completely from scratch and a copy of an old fender bassman head i also built years ago

GK1001RB-II with GK410RBH and GK115RBH

The price was reasonable (under 3K canadian), , it's built like a tank, it has way more headroom than I will ever need, it has the clarity and crispness/hi-fi quality I look for in a clean tone, has INSANE punch, and with the amp controls combined with my custom Vadim's pramp, I can cop pretty much any tone I could ever want, and then some.

Roland Cube Bass 100 for home practice, rehearsals, and low volume gigs. I could probably play more gigs with it, provided I had good PA support. Great tone, easy portability, durable.

G-K 700RB-II and two Neo112 cabs. I bought this stuff before all the "micro" heads, but this is reasonably portable gear that sounds fantastic for rock with my Fenders and G&L SB-2. I normally need only one cab, which keeps things simple.

I wouldn't mind simplifying further, with a more powerful combo to replace the Roland and cover some single 1x12 cab situations, and one four ohm standalone 2x12 for everything else (like a Genz Benz NeoX 212). I'm planning to take a close look at the new G-K MB neo combos soon.

PURE PORN!

I play doom-pop through one of these.

I run my Pedulla's (Thunderbolts or Raptures) into my Carvin BX500, then the effects send into the POD Pro XT (a little bit of Ampeg or Gallien grind) and through my BMAX-T, back into the effects return of the BX500 :bassist:
Picked up my Berg NV610 back in march/april of this past year and its the most incredible sounding cab (I still love my EV's, but my back isn't what it used to be). The Berg is for when I'm playing live (the EV's haven't seen any action in quite a while, but they are sweet!), and I bring to rehersal either the Carvin BX510 or the GKNeo212).
This rig creates some serious growl while retaining its clarity.

A couple of GK 210 combos stacked. One 700RB with normal RBH speakers (8 ohms), and one 1001RBII with B&C Neos at 4 ohms. I drive the 700RB with the effects send of the 1001RBII into the return. Boost, tweeter, and woofer controls are independent, so I can dial in as much of each cab as I want. Muting the 100RBII mutes the whole stack. B&Cs are punchy and grindy, and the RBH as a little more bottom end heavy. They mix well. It's also a nice bass stand.

Indoor and smaller gigs: Ampeg B-15R mic'd with a Heil PR-40. If ya hafta ask why... Sweet tube response that changes from fat and broad to punchy just by thinking at it. Some folks don't think these are very versitle amps, but I've found the opposite to be true. I can go from low dance drub to punchy rock to spanky with it no problem.

Outdoor or larger areas with unknown PA: Ampeg SVT3Pro over Ampeg 4x10 and 1x15. Good trade off between Ampeg tube sound and power and reliability. Usually DI'd out of the head. Prolly gonna switch the 1x15 to a second 4x10 based on reading TB.

Rehearsal studio: Ampeg B200R. Good enough simulation of the Ampeg sound for most rehearsals. Loud bugger. Has it's own voice, too.

Office: Ampeg B100R. When you gotta play, you gotta play...

I like the "Ampeg sound". It supported the majority of the music I grew up with and still listen to, and the music that I play. I can go under, over, or right through as the song requires.

LTD B-2005 with Nordstrand Big Splits
Bought it because I liked how it looked. After a while I hated the EMG's and wanted a passive bass. Luckily this bass plays easy and sounds great acoustically, so I went for new pups instead of a new bass. Big Splits sound great passive!!! Lots of punch, great fingerstyle tone!

Trace Elliot Hexavalve
Wanted a tube head with good clean articulation and not ampeg-priced. Check and check!

Ashdown MAG810
Wanted a sealed no tweeter 810. At the time I had a MAG300, so obvious choice.
Will be replaced by Berg NV412.

Line6 G30 Relay Wireless
Cause it's cool!

Planet Waves pedal tuner
You need to be in tune!

Heads:

Peavey Mark VI
Kustom200

Cabs:

Peavey 1x15 (new speaker)
Ampeg B25B 2x15
Acoustic 6x10

9 times out of 10 i am fine with a head and my 1x15. I'm not playing loud heavy music in a band setting at the moment, so in my power-pop band, a 1x15 mic'd at a venue is fine. The 2x15 i break out for heavier things, and the 6x10 is on an indefinet loan to a friend's band... i haven't played out of it in a few years at this point.

All my stuff is cheap because i have no money. When i do get money i tend to spend on pedals, then basses, and amps/cabs come in last usually.

I had the misfortune of having a Sunn Concert Bass head stolen from me, so that lead me to cut back on the spending with the amplification.

I would like to upgrade though, and while i usually preffer solid state, some of these hybrid heads look pretty interesting; especially MarkBass and that new Orange hybrid.

Carvin BX1200 - Because it's hard to beat the price and still have all those features. Lots of EQ options and powerful. The tone is a bit bright, but that doesn't mean it's weak on the low end. Plus, did I mention it has lots of EQ options. ;) I read all the reviews I could before ordering, and I couldn't find a single negative review.

Low Down Sound 15/6.5 - Because Don does great work at a great price, and I knew this cab could handle lots of power without breaking up. Plus, it's light, and I had some knee issues earlier this year. Anyway, great build quality and great speakers have made for a great cab overall. I'm rather happy with it.

My main rig is a Carvin BX500 running parallel, at 2 ohms, 500 watts rms into a Carvin BRX10.4 and BRX10.2 neo cabs.

The reason I use the Carvin stuff is that it's very reliable and sounds great. I've not ever had one problem with Carvin gear since I exclusively started using their products in early '07'.

As fas as the Jazz bass goes, that's a 08' MIA Fender Jazz V which is simply a plug in and play instrument - sounds killer. The other bass I currently play is a Carvin Icon IC5 with soapbar pups and it sounds really decent also.
