So it has been decided that this week shall be Irish Car Bomb week. I think we're going to go with Guinness for the first sixer and either Murphy's or Beamish for the second one. Anyone have suggestions on Irish Stouts?

Yes, don't drink them.


Irish Car Bombs are fun to do once a year or so but I can't imagine doing a whole week of them. Do you realize that it curdles? Imagine drinking milk and having it turn to cottage cheese halfway down.

A car bomb is a half shot of Bailey's and a half shot of Irish whiskey dropped into a pint of Guinness.

oh okay, that actually sounds pretty terrible

I just bought a couple tallboys of Lucky Lager:

it's a bit of an irregular brew for me, it's your generic cheap lager. I just get it occaisionally, and since I'm getting out of my last exam I'm going to drink them afterwards.

I like 1554, but it's WAY better on tap than in the bottle. Sam Adam's has a black lager that tastes a little closer to 1554 on tap.

Skipped beer last night since I didn't work out due to a massive head cold. Probably not working out tonight either, but will be having my homebrew sweet stout. Great beer so far.

My new favorite Sam Adams brew is found in their Winter 12pack. Its called Black & Brew Coffee Stout and is absolutely delicious!

The 1554 by New Belgium is pretty tasty too, though!

Yeah, I dont often buy Sam Adams unless its one of their seasonal 12packs. Its often where you'll find their best brews. Occasionally, they make it out of the mixed 12pack (6 different beers, 2 each) and into their own 6pack, like the Blackberry Witbier or the Cherry Wheat.

Their Chocolate Bock isnt bad (also in the winter pack) but doesnt hold up in comparison with the Black & Brew. Hopefully it will get its own release!

My girlfriend and I just dogsat for a friend who went on a vacation to Portland and brought us back a rogue santas private reserve ale and an oakshire ill tempered gnome winter ale to try. I really like beers from the pacNW...I tasted hops for the first time!

I recall the Chocolate Bock being alright. I think it had a really nice bottle. Not a bad dessert beer.

They released a triple bock a few years back that was horrible. I got a third of a way finished before I tossed it.

Sam Adams makes some good stuff, some stuff that's fairly generic among the respective style, and a few that are tough to drink. I like how they try new stuff, but perhaps wiser to focus on refinining some recipes before adding new ones IMHO.

I went to college at St. Lawrence University in Canton NY. Near Canada. In my frig right now is a six pack of Labatts Blue. (real beer) like beer used to be made in the states.

Im sure a lot of you here have had Sierra Nevada's annual Celebration Ale, yes?
BUT, have you ever had one that has been aged in a cellar for 20 years? Probably not.
Its not really my thing, but my wife loves them. We started taking up a collection and we save one every year now. I actually have a beer thats been in my fridge for over a year!

You can find some really old ones at this place called Stuffed Sandwich in San Gabriel, Ca. Thats where my wife bought a few brewed in 1990 and 1991, though now the oldest one they have is from 1994.

Celebration is good and lots of people say that it's one of the rare IPAs worth aging.

A pal of mine has a 19 year vertical of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine. When it comes out next year, we're going to do a 20 year tasting of it.
