What happened to Hadrien Feraud?!

Hoooray! I'm a marked man! ;)
Just let it be known it wasn't HF's playing, or that dreadful DefLeppard snare sample, it was the entirety of that song that gave me douche chills.

And Jada Pinkett is a really good actress, so much so she even convinced herself she was really feelin that cut.

I stopped reading a few pages back, but honestly, I read that quote, JM said he spoke to him about playing too loud. Nothing about being fired. Period. So what "lie" was told?
Why perpetuate rumors? HF HIMSELF straighten it out. Now, unless someone has some first hand information on actually what happened, I'd drop it.
Not a word about him being fired (unless I missed it). JM even confirmed HF's broken finger.

I've exchanged a few PM's with HF when he first hit and he's a great guy.


<update> I just read the JM interview and found the section about the volume issue. Should have included that in the quote.
That's too bad. But if it's just a volume issue, that's easy to manage more so than an ego.

JM: I’ve known Etienne for about eight years now. I first saw him with Zawinul’s Syndicate in Nice, and we became friends at that moment. He’s a wonderful musician and human being. About two years ago we were beginning a European tour, and the day before the first gig Hadrien Feraud arrived with a broken hand. Only Dominique DiPiazza was capable of coming in on 24 hours notice, and he sweated!!! But he came through with flying colors.

Prior to this tour, I’d had words with Hadrien about his volume on stage, which was excessive. I’d actually had many words with him about his volume which unfortunately, he seemed unable to change.

Several months later we had a gig in Switzerland on the opening day of the Olympics in Beijing. The gig was a free concert for the Tibetan people with whom my wife and I are associated. Hadrien was healthy, and aware that this was a kind of “test” concert. Unfortunately the volume was way over the top, and shortly after I just had to let him go. Dominique has quite a career going for himself, and it was clear that I should find another bassist. I called Etienne and he was in. The rest is history, as they say.

Note that Hadrien posted in this thread but then came back and deleted his posts after I posted this narrative that contradicted his own; additionally the brains of some individuals just switched off and the bashing began and continues not so much here but places like youtube.

Are we talking HF's stage volume? HF walking over to his rig, turning it up? Can't imagine that happening.
Imagine JM telling you in between sets, "kid, turn it down".
I would listen to JM. Then maybe ask for more monitor.

I was being sarcastic, based off of how some guys really get vicious when they think their musician is being attacked. And they can't understand that whom ever their favorite musician is, that their really just a human. But of course they some how lose touch with reality and turn that favorite musician into some sort of god.

You would think that, wouldn't you? But as a leader, you mention the volume is an issue. Then you have to mention it again. And again. And again. You start feeling like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. Now what?

I know what happens IRL and apparently that's the world even McLaughin operates in. I've had people who are paying me mention something and I comply... because I'm working FOR, NOT just WITH them. Duh.

That's like Gigging Musician 101. Don't like it, start your own band. Nothing new there.

Dude, I hear you on that. I've been lucky enough to do some nice gigs, and I kinda do what is asked. But then again, I knew what to expect going in.

Again, I've exchanged a few PM's with Hadrien a few years back, and he seems like a nice humble guy. Not to imply the case being discussed here has anything to do with an ego or him being a jerk or something like that.

Personality defects have a tendancy to keep you from working, and he's working quite nicely as it seems these days.
