A 1954 would be nice also.

Probably a 5 string jazz bass like a mike lull or sadowsky. 19mm string spacing. Rosewood fret board. Rotosound swingbass or DR low riders. Probably go for EMG pickups but I don't know why I've not tried them just heard they're excellent

I don’t have a dream bass. There are so many good instruments out there that we can use to make music. After all, isn’t that the objective? I have basses that will accommodate my ability and then some. I don’t dream about basses, I just like playing music - a bass happens to be what I use to do that.

I made my dream bass for myself. I want

ed a 500/1 with a single pickup and only a volume knob. I converted my 68 with a new pickup harness to achieve this dream. Theae mods are completely reversible, so no worries.

I have several ideas and they're constantly changing.

I guess, as of right now, one of them would be a custom 4-string neck-through Rick-inspired-- but not Rick-clone, see Schecter Stargazer pic below to get a rough idea of what I mean.

Features list:

- 5-piece Maple-&-Walnut thru-body neck
- 34.75" scale, 21 frets
- Tulip Poplar body wings & plain Big Leaf Maple top
- Fender neck contour, 1-3\4" nut width
- 10-15" conical radius Ebony fretboard
- Mother of Pearl Reverse-Triangle Inlays
- White body, neck, & headstock binding
- A finish that could only be described as "Fireburst, but purple!"

It would have 4 pickups-- a DiMarzio Model One at the Rick 4003 neck pickup position (think Cliff Burton's Rick), and then 3 narrow humbucking soapbars or soapsticks at approximately the following pickup locations:

- Fender Jazz Front
- Rickenbacker 4001\3 Rear
- Fender Jazz Rear

Controls would consist of a Volume, Blend, Treble, Bass, and (2) 2-way slider switches-- one would be an active\passive toggle, where the Treble knob works as a passive tone control when switched to "passive" mode.

The second 2-way slider switch would toggle which *pairs* of pickups are connected to the Blend knob (and therefore activated)-- either the two pickups in the J-bass pickup locations, or the two pickups in the 4003 pickup locations, kinda like getting 2 different basses in one!

I don't think I have one. I have dream compositions to play on my basses, but the only reasons they're in the "dream" state is because I haven't composed them out beyond the initial kernel yet. At a rate of one or two a year, I'm not liable to ever win a speed record for composing

Definitely a 4001 burgundy glo. Beauty perfection in my book.
Although pretty rare (at least in Brazil), I saw one in a friend's shop couple of years ago, for US$2k (just for comparison sake, a new Ric here is US$6k).
I wasn't playing bass at that time, but I should had grabbed it just for staring at it...

I have a Burgundy 4003 COY, 2002. Its my number 1, so I understand.
