What is your favorite bass strap?

Levi's makes an excellent strap. Having said that:

My favorites are Italia 4" wide suede backed straps. The leather is really thick and very soft. If you're into Schaller style strap-locks you'd be hard pressed to make them fit.
(All my previous straps have strap-locks). To get around this I bought oversize buttons and replaced the Schallers. The holes in the strap are very tight and once on is
impossible to get off by accident. These straps will easily last forever - well worth the cost.

The trick is to buy one and wait for the excellent sales that happen periodically. You will be notified and save a bunch of $$.

Custom made from Ape Leather out of Los Angeles, via eBay. This is the 2nd one I got from them. Weighs almost as much as the bass :D but the 3" wide distribution keeps it comfy for about 90min at a time. All this leather and hardware for under $75 iirc :thumbsup:

This Weight Shifter strap. I play a heavy bass and no fatigue at all.
They seemed to go out of business. Would love to hear if available anywhere.
The strap is slightly curved but the key is the swivel that rotates the strap 90 degrees
so the edge of strap does not dig in to shoulders. Really works.
Found some paperwork..Performance Solutions was the company from PA.
Google search comes up empty too.

I wonder if there is a market for vintage straps? :). Try posting that strap on E-Bay for a couple of hundred bucks lol. I think I have a few straps myself that are over 25 years old.

Who'd have thought, a thread about straps running to 8 pages... :D

For the last 30-odd years, I've mainly used a single ply, leather strap, about 3" wide. Comfy and cheap, no fuss, no frills, just a solid strap that holds the guitar where I want it. I experimented with nylon straps a few times, but found them to be not grippy enough, and the bass would slip & slide all over the place while playing, so I always came back to a good old, simple leather strap. Saying that though, I much prefer a nylon strap for my guitars weirdly enough.

However, thanks to some old injuries, I've been looking into getting a padded strap, in the hope that it'll help. One of the big things putting me off the padded straps is the cost, but I have seen a couple that were in the more acceptable price range.

Reading some of the posts here has convinced me to order a Mono GS1 Betty. Managed to find a good deal on one too.

Yep, they do that. I don't know why Fender includes those things, or just leaves them out. At least the truss rod adjusting tools are fairly high quality.
PS... I like your avatar... the top of his head seems strange though...lol

I was so happy with the Mono, that I bought a second one.
