I have three:

1971 Fender Precision, bought used in 1976. I added a Jazz Bass bridge pickup a year later, and also had it converted to fretless. It's alder (sunburst) with a rosewood neck.

2005 Fender MIM, bought used in 2010. Beautiful, straight neck. It's alder (blue) with a rosewood neck.

2009 SX copy, bought new in 2009 for $99. Stock, except that I replaced the string tree. Perfectly good instrument. It's alder (white) with a rosewood neck.

I also have some parts that I'll be getting assembled sometime in the next few months... I have an alder body which I finished in "mocha" walnut color, and an Mighty Mite neck (maple fingerboard). It'll have a black pickguard and gold hardware. The pickups are the Fender "original '62" model.

Squier P special...not sure what the special is....but I like it.it looked dorky when I got it, mirror pick guard.....now it's dorkier! Lol
Blacked out all the hardware, new pick guard, looks nicer....Actually!
What I really like about these, that it has the jazz neck. I guess that's the special part, it's a cross breed.

The cheap one - Squier Affinity P. All that's left that's original is the body, neck and tuners, everything else has been replaced. Plays and sounds good, that's all I care about anyways!

Squier p bass special. Which really isn't all p bass but its the only one I own. After playing the slim p neck on the american p special I want that next.

I have an '06 Classic '51 RI, a Classic '50s P in fiesta red, an ash-bodied FSR MIM, and an AV '57 P. I love 'em all: the '51 for thump, the '50s and the '57 for general purpose, and the FSR when I want a really good looking bass.

What would you have to say, as an owner of both the American Vintage 57' P and MIM Classic 50's P, is most different about the two? And is the American Vintage worth the extra cash?
