My first was a washburn lyon and now I play a Peavey Cirrus BXP

My first bass was a Memphis P-bass copy of a walnut fender P-bass. I bought it for $150 at a local swap meet along with a peavy micro bass amp. Now I a play a heavily modified Fender american P-bass with an EMG P, EMG humbucker, and BTC tone control.

A no name sunburst hollow body this was in the mid 70's and at my first gig I leaned it on a lolly column and it tipped broke off the headstock,I went to guitar for 10 years and my second bass was a Gibson EBO today I am in the 50 plus bass guitars owned club having purchased my 54th last week but to this day keep my eye open for something that looks similar to that first

1989 Sunn Mustang P-bass-a-like, from an Argos Catalogue, I reposessed it from a friend who owed me a fair but of cash (on the understanding that his mum wouldn't find out, as it was a Christmas present to him from her, she still doesn't know I've got it).
Still got it, and for some reason, still love it, plays real nice, and has killer inherent tone, is my next project, I'm building a lovely fake 70s P with a stained and oiled finish, and a kent armstrong hot alnico pup in it. Should look as good as it sounds when I'm done.

I got a Teisco copy of a 50's P bass in Tokyo in 1965. It sounded ok but the strings were about 1/2 inch off the fingerboard. I played it until '69 when I bought a new Rickenbacker. I suddenly got a lot faster with the low action on the Ric. My current main axe is a custom Elrick 5 string. It has Bartolini pups, a phenolic fingerboard & a 36" scale & a neck thru design. I also own Carvin, MK, Spector, Fender, Modulus, Squier & several other custom basses. My first amp was a Guyatone 30 watt amp. I now use Carvin bass amps & cabs.

A black on black Harmony P-Bass. It weighed about a ton and had horrible output.

I didn't care though I just covered that bad-boy in punk stickers and played as fast and angry as my 15 year old hands would let me.

I gave it to a cousin that wanted to learn bass after i got my ATK... He sold it for drug money a week later

My first bass was a Dean Edge 4 string with dual humbuckers, used. It was an alright bass, I used it for about a year. Then I started using the Fender Zone at my church. Now I use a Schecter Stilleto Elite-5(EMG-Hz, Amberburst). I like it, very versatile and has a really nice sound set flat, sustain for days. [/B]

oh man one of those piece of crap ebay special basses. Fender copy in cherry sunburst..came with this piece of crap gib bag looked like it was made out of a tarp,and a 1 watt practice amp you could clip on to your belt hahahha..it was crappy but hey it worked and i got real far on that bass in the 7 months i had it

entire thing cost 86 dollars,got it for my 16th birthday.

My first bass was a Yamaha RBX260. I eventually dropped some EMG PJ pickups in there and had 2 volume controls. (no tone)

I later bought an Ibanez SR885 that I still have (and is for sale)

I traded the Yamaha for a Fender MIA Hot Rod P bass that I lost in a fire, so with the insurance money I bought a 2008 Fender AmStd J. I just bought a 1980s MIJ P bass lyte that should be arriving today.

My first bass was a Kingston with one pickup held in place by one screw and gum. I got it and a Kay amp with one 15 for $80.00 big bucks back in 1966. Traded it for a new Vox Couger a couple of years later. I get a Phython strap as trade.

My first bass was Ibanez archtop, a copy of Gibson 335, and I still own it. I wanted to sell it a few years ago, took it to a flea market and even found a buyer, who was supposed to come and take it next week. Then I took it to a recording session, 'cause I've never used it for recording before, and when I herd the record I decided I don't want to sell it anymore.

Now playing: modified 4 banger Fender MIM J Bass, and an EBMM SR5
