Probably - I run mine through either an Acoustic B20 or an Ampeg BA210, and both sound just that little bit better because of it.
Ah. Thanks for the reply. I asked about one that I found used in the classifieds. I haven't really heard back from the guy about it so I suppose I'll let it slip by. I may regret letting it go later (it's more than half off of the street price) but I have a few other pedals that I'd like to try out just as much. If I hear back I will probably buy it just to try out. Worst case scenario is that I don't care for it and have to sell it at a slight loss.
I have been playing my VT Bass through my older rig (Kustom Groove 1200 and Sonic B610T) and it is really growing on me. One of my main concerns is that the sound is thin. I really would like this tone on one of our songs but I need more low end to really work. It should be fantastic for other songs but more low end would still be nice.
It could be attributed to my rig. That cab isn't as deep as my Carvin BR810 and I have become increasingly unimpressed by the Kustom head. It is a good sounding practice rig but I have no plans to ever take it out of the house. I'll have to put the VT Bass in my rack for my Carvin rig and see if the low end comes back. If so, we have a winner! If not, then I may need something before (or after?) the VT Bass to bring up the low end.
Back on the topic of this thread, I have asked about an EHX XO Q-Tron+. There is one listed in the classifieds that I am probably going to buy. I have been watching the YouTube demo vids (Bryan R. Tyler's bass demo and the EHX guitar video) and am very interested. I was originally looking at the Micro Q-Tron or the standard XO Q-Tron but after seeing how awesome the built in effects loop can be, I am completely set on the XO Q-Tron+. My oh my, what a sweet effect. When/If I get the pedal I'm going to try a distortion pedal in that loop. My fingers smell like Ovaltine. The singer of my band left it at my house so I'll have to put it to good use. I'm not expecting anything usable out of it (its a cheap Rockson) but I would love to be surprised. If that sounds like something I'd like to use I may start looking for a more reputable fuzz. The Devi Ever pedals have really grabbed my attention.
A delay sounds really good placed in the Q-Tron+'s effects loop so that'll be something I'll have to look out for.
In summation:
Certainly coming soon: rackmount keyboard tray
Likely to be coming soon: EHX XO Q-Tron+
Less likely but still possibly coming soon: Aphex Bass Xciter
On its way out if I have any luck: Peavey 115BVX
