Whats the deal with Eden?

Bottom line...if you like it, it's wonderful. If you don't, it's a POS. People's opinions mean nothing except your own. I used an SWR for a few years and it got trashed on here regularly. I didn't care...yeah, it was scooped, but you could fix it with the EQ.
I think the beef is mainly with customer service. Once US Music bought out Eden, things seemed to slip, similar to what happened with Ampeg and Loud Tecnologies.
That being said, I had a Nemesis N28S combo and still have an NA650 head, both built in China and problem-free. Kick-ass tone, too.

I've bought all of my Eden gear used and have not had any problems... knock on wood.
I have had my WT550 serviced once by a reputable electronics shop here just for my own piece of mind since I did not know the seller. My D212XLT, D210XST, and D210XLT perform well in various combinations that I use. I can get some great sounds and receive many compliments on the sound and rig.
I like the online Eden forum and have learned many useful tips... cool, knowledgeable guys/gals there.
I have not had any business with their customer service so I cannot say that it's good or bad. Perhaps the buyout by U.S. Music several years back has hurt the company. Maybe U.S. Music has its hands on too many things and Eden does not get the attention they require or need. Eden also moved their factory location I believe.

I find that as far as "good" bass cabs go, Eden is overrated. I bought my Eden gear on reputation only... this was without hearing Bergantino, Schroeder, Bag End, Epifani, etc. I now wish I had originally bought some of the more esoteric cabs.

I'm chiming in on the "I've had good luck" side with Eden products. I used a WT800 for years (until I switched to a SVT2pro). I still use the 6x10 cab for the SVT and it sounds better to me than my Ampeg 8x10. I've also got a 1x15 & 2x10 that I use for practice that are at least 15 years old. I have never had a single problem with Eden, so I may be lucky there. I like the Ampeg tube amps better, but the Eden is still good sounding stuff.
I used a WT400 for about ten years, loved the sound. Changed the preamp tube a few times. Even after it took a nosedive onto a marble floor from about four feet my local tech company couldn't find anything to repair. After a year with an Epifani UL502 I just got a WTX 500 and am really pleased after three gigs. I think I missed the "service went downhill" era completely, though if the WTX 500 develops a problem I guess I'll find out.
Seems to me that that flavor of the month thing is huge here. A year ago Audere and Nordstrand would have been voted best things ever created by human hand and now they're just pretty ok.

Out of a WT-400, Navigator and WT800A - I've never had an issue. That I can find my sound in there should be obvious. I can get from GK clean punch to 'put a little hair on it' to downright wooly - The EQ takes a little effort to suss - mostly it's the way the treble control works ...
I did have a Nemesis 2x10 for about 3 days. Came and went quickly in trade deals and I was really happy to see it go. The voicing was really not for me at all...

Well, I love the eden sound. and my amp has been rock solid for a while now...
but Both of the cabs I bough have been blown, while not being pushed at all, or abused at all. both have been repaired under warranty though. mind you it has taken at least 3 months to get any repairs done.
I doubt my next Cab will be an eden cab. I have just had to many problems with them, and really have some serious trust issues with using them in a live setting anymore.

My 2004 D112XLTs have been bulletproof and still stun people, even more so as a pair.
2006 WTX260 has been bulletproof with a quiet DI and sounds great, used 2-3 times a week into a 210XST-4 or an SWR Goliath II 410-8. It's louder than I expected and the perfect amp when you want a range of volume adjustment (versus running 400+ watts with the master choked back).
2007 WT800C tons of power and reliable though I have the least mileage on this one (as I said, my WTX260 is loud enough and easier to grab and go with my backpack).
Nemesis N8 practice amp...small and potent for my practice corner. Minimal features, but the tone and ability to handle a 5-string has made me a better player. Nominated for the thread "$100 tools that keep you working".
Would I like to try other stuff? Sure, but I made my choice and am too busy playing to worry about what might have been.

I just got an old solid state cxc400 combo with 2X10 speakers. I paid 500 bucks for it and am very happy with the tone and over all construction, but i can understand why the price-is-not-a-concern crowd has moved on. Mine is one of the "loud fan" ones, and it would make it useless in the studio. This problem seems to be pretty endemic on these amps (bad batches), and can't be fixed without puttzing with the cooling system, something I'm not prepared to do. Couple that with mediocre at best customer service, you don't have a competitive product anymore considering all the really high-quality stuff in that price range.
I've found the sound of an Eden amp going through Eden cabs to be recognizably clear and clean. I lusted after (and still do) the sound of a WT800 but couldn't even come close to affording it. Surprisingly found a really good deal on a new Nemesis RS400 last year and jumped on it. This mid-level amp doesn't have a tube front end or the "golden ear chip" they use in their non-tube front end David series of amps and their Nemesis line is and always was made in China. The amp is built like a tank and the quality is top-notch.
The SOUND though, that really surprised me. I didn't expect it to sound as good as it does. And it has plenty of power with 400 watts at 4-ohms. I'm running a GK115 on the bottom with an acoustic 410 stacked on top of that. Both are 8-ohm cabs so I have a 4-ohm load on the amp and WOW! For a change, my bass cut cleanly through the mix and the two guitar players (one with Peavey 5150 half-stack and the other with a VHT/Marshall half stack) were asking me to "turn down a bit"

The EQ section sounds good flat and, with just a couple of clicks in a couple of spots, sounds great with my 73 US maple-necked Fender Jazz Bass. There is no mud in the bottom at all, just well-defined and clear tone. When I want it to growl... I dig in on my bass and it growls. That clarity of tone is what I like about Eden and I was surprised to find it in their Nemesis line. I still want a WT800 amp and David Eden cabs, but this works just fine until then.

I love the Eden sound, and will always play through an Eden amp. The company be damned. I'll always buy a used one, and love it. Mine won't ever be sold, and I'll buy more, as I find them cheap.
I had an eden wt405. My son flushed the screws of the amp down the toilet (long story). I tried for 3 months to get those screws replaced from eden and just got nothing but bad service. That was about two years ago.
I like eden gear, but would very hesitant to make a major eden purchase again.
The opposite is Genz Benz. They have fantastic service. Makes me want to buy a GB product just because of that.

I absolutely love the sound of Eden amps and cabinets. Nothing works better for me in a live band situation with any bass and in any room under any circumstance. Best semi-parametric EQ in the business IMO. I have used Eden since 1997 and all of the gear I have owned (WT-400, WT-800, VT-.40, D410T, D115T, D212XLT, D210XLT) has been 100% reliable.
Recently, I ordered some replacement screws and knobs for my amps. Tim McCarthy in customer service sent them to me free of charge. They arrived in the mail within a week.
No complaints here. If my Eden amp or speaker cabinet ever needed to be replaced, I'd buy another Eden in a heartbeat without hesitation. If I ever had a problem, I'm confident Tim in Eden customer service would take care of me.

I do understand that people want to know that they've made the right decision when they got the quality for what they paid for...and for an Eden, they expect high-quality for the price they pay.
Though it seems that the opinions here vary...if I were to buy bass gear again, I might be too scared to take a chance on Eden. And that would be a shame because I'm very happy with my Eden cab, and I have a good friend who also has an Eden cab, and we are both happy with our purchases!
I love my WT-800B. Fantastic tone.
I wish I could find an Eden cab that sounded as good as my Berg NV412 and didn't have rat fur.

apologies for the non sequitur, or the potential to sound like a tard
(and i admittedly have virtually 0 experience with this cab), but series/parallel *would* be wired just as you describe (tweeter mishap notwithstanding). have you checked the impedence of the cab as you have it wired? since it is a 4 ohm cab (supposedly!), if it were to have 4 - 4ohm speakers wired in series/parallel to get that 4 ohms (which is most definitely possible), your parallel-only wiring scheme would have it down around 1 ohm land, in which case the "better sound" might very well be due to the extra couple of hundred watts that the cab is making the amp produce 
. regardless, i cant believe that it made it through QC in that shape. mustve been a friday (or are those made in china like everything else? do they celebrate friday in china?).
there customer service in the uk is non existent. i tried emailing them to get some replacement drivers and had no reply, the dealers were also all in the dark...
i think they stopped trying about 10 years ago, about the same time that epifani/accugroove/EA/markbass etc.......did
their new lightweight cabs seem a poor attempt, just stick some neo drivers in same heavy boxes...
shame as there old stuff was ace (if you had a roadie)
