What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

ah yes but i HAVE a pile of`lumber' out in the pasture,,my INSTRUMENTS on the other hand ARE my friends,very close ones as in fact if the house was on fire or i had to leave in the middle of the night forever(it could happen)my 2 basses Sunshine and Blackie would darncertainly be the first out of the house or first into the car

i mean come on!,i put the love on those girls(and treat em like jewels) and no matter how many mistakes i make they accept me for ME,can't say that for the rest of the world

My current bass is named the same as the last one. 'the precision'. Although it's not a very accurate name.

I've never understood this naming thing.

I always give names to things that are close to my heart. My wife's name is Tracy. I refer to her as Boo.
My dogs name is Katie.
My Fender Precision Deluxe's name is Jennifer. This gets some dirty looks from women at work when I say I'm going home and wrap my fingers around Jennifers neck and give her a good slap. I also talk about her curves and her nice bottom. LOL

i don't have names for em.. i play multiple instruments and would feel guilty if i named one and not the other... but I do have a cling sticker on my fretted bass that is charlie brown (my main bass) and a snoopy "joe cool" sticker on my fretless... other instruments have beer stickers...

The trumpet from my middle school days was named Shirley. One day I had to sell her, so I vowed never to get that attached to something ever again.

Um....I used to name them.
I named my Jaguar "Manly Earl" (I used an "Early Man" stencil on the back, but made it say "Manly Earl").
The others don't have names yet.

I don't give names to my basses, but since the name "Steinberger" sounds very German, one of my bandmates calls my XL2 "Dasvirgunzen". That isn't an actual German word as far as I know, but it would fit perfectly as the German translation of the Spanish word "Desvírguence", which means something like ordering a group of women to pop their cherries.

The caption I added to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] means "with the Dasvirgunzen".

I never name them on purpose, but over time, some basses seem to present a personality, and if I stay with them long enough, they sometimes acquire names. I have an early Peavey MidiBase called 'The Enterprise', a name it acquired from a fellow bassist who thought it looked huge and white on stage; I also recently traded in a Warwick Thumb 4 NT that I called the Weapon, from numerous pissing contests during my prog rock days. My current bass is a LEJ-5, and it seems to have a lot of personality, but it hasn't picked a name yet.

I had an Ibanez GSR205 that I named G.G. after GG Allin. That thing was perfectly fine and normal until it got on stage and then It crapped out, almost like it had stage fright. My son named my Peavey Dora after Dora the Explorer, would have been a much cooler name had it be an Explorer bodied bass.

My Warwick Corvette is named "Rosie" because of the color of the bubinga.
My Streamer LX is named "Mama," because when you're good to Mama...
Haven't named the $$ fretless yet.

Other basses that I've had that were named:

Warwick Fortress - "Mojo" (it had battle scars)
Old 70s Hondo P-Bass - "Thumper"
Hondo Longhorn Doubleneck (8/4) - "The Monster" (it had a CRAAAAAZY paintjob)
No-name Jazz I picked up in a pawn shop in New Hampshire - "The New Hampshire Bass"
