Yep... what's scarier is I can name the guitars, speakers, amps, and keyboards of all the people I've played with in the last 40 years. Apologies to the Drummers I'd played with... I never cared what they were playing as long as it didn't sound like they were beating on oatmeal boxes. My guess is that it's only about 15 different bands.

What's really embarrassing is that I can't remember all the names of the people that played them.

I could never rattle them all off by memory, but about 15 years ago, when my total gear ownership was way less than it soon became, I made a document listing all my guitars, basses, and amps, with (to the extent I could remember) when and where I got them, what they cost, any gigs I played with them, and if I got rid of them, when and where and what I sold/traded them for. Since then I have updated it with every new transaction. Over that time, I tried a lot of different things and I've mostly narrowed down what I like, although I've still got a fair variety. In any event, I can say now that since 1979 when my dad picked up some unbranded cheap short scale piece of firewood, I have had the following basses, in chronological order. And at risk of blasphemy, my favorite to play is the red Peavey Fury. I absolutely love the feel of the neck. It has Bartolini pickups in it, which cost about as much as the rest of the bass.

I just got a Peavey Fury today, and it's a fantastic instrument. Exceeded my expectations for sure.
