Been 7 years since I had more than 3 days off work in a row. I work in healthcare in a backwards state. So they don’t pay competitively and most of the people I work with are actually travel workers not hospital employees. So I basically just sell back my paid time off twice a year. Can request time off but it never gets approved. Because the travelers are worthless. They move on to another hospital before they even know where things are.

the closest thing I have that I would compare to a “vacation” setup is my fender acoustic. Doesn’t require an amp if I’m just noodling by myself. I actually bought it because I live on the east coast and hurricanes tend to knock out power here for a week or two at a time once a year. So it was my “hurricane bass” lol it’s not super fancy. I’m sure there are plenty of better acoustic basses out there but definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it just by how much it increases my practice time alone. I also really enjoy sitting on my deck with it which is much more of a hassle to do with my other basses because I have to bring an amp outside.

I own a mountain cabin that I Airbnb. I go once a month for maintenance and I take my twin rumble 500 combos and my fretless to disturb the bears with loudness and annoying work on intonation. Lolol

When on vacation or on the road for work, I take a Rumble 25 and my Gibson Short Scale Thunderbird or my Fender Mustang.

Quick fly-in gigs get this. I can either use whatever rig is on stage or my own DI; the Aguilar in the case is small, light and reliable. For multiple dates I also check my Kemper in it's own road case. I typically scrounge around for a spare bass to either borrow or rent. I no longer bring a bass on vacation with me.

If I'm flying or away with the family I'll take my home made travel bass and a little Blackstar Fly3 amp. I remove the neck from the bass and it all fits in a medium sized checked travel bag.

If I'm driving to an overnight work meeting i'll usually take my Squier Jag Short Scale and Roland Street Cube amp.
