What's your white whale?

Everyone has that one thing that they are looking for and they haven't found it, or seen it in the wild.

What is yours? Mine is the Ibanez SR2010ASC - The Ashula - 4 strings fretted, 2 strings fretless.

My white whale would be a brand new Wal made to my specs, PLUS playing skills as mentioned! LOL! I am 32 right now. I figure if I save a little every year I could afford one by the time I'm 40 for my mid life crisis birthday gift to myself. Or I'd have a good down payment for college for the kids. :)

I've got 2.

1. Ibanez Saber bass

2. Rickenbacker 3000

As a short scale guy, the Ric 3000 was my white whale for the last few years. One popped up at local Guitar Center a few weeks ago, and I went to check it out. It was easily the single heaviest bass I've ever picked up, long or short. And, it just didn't feel right in my hands. I'm sure it's an awesome bass to some, but I never even bothered plugging it in.

It's funny how you can spend so much time and energy lusting after something, just to be disappointed when you actually find it.

A Washburn B32 - almost had it as it popped up in my local CL of all places- going for a great price! Only problem - I was in the other side of the country on vacation and couldn't get to it! Seller wasn't going to hold it either. Gone in a flash... :(
