My white whale would be a brand new Wal made to my specs, PLUS playing skills as mentioned! LOL! I am 32 right now. I figure if I save a little every year I could afford one by the time I'm 40 for my mid life crisis birthday gift to myself. Or I'd have a good down payment for college for the kids.

I've owned over 100 Fender-ish basses. Only 2 were without deadspots. One was a G&L SB2, the other a Lakland 4402. I will never stop looking...

This.... 1975 Ibanez FRANKENSTEIN BASS, part Rick, part Gibson, I didn't have the $$$ when it came out, ended up with the aforementioned Japanese Mosrite copy. They are overrated.

As a short scale guy, the Ric 3000 was my white whale for the last few years. One popped up at local Guitar Center a few weeks ago, and I went to check it out. It was easily the single heaviest bass I've ever picked up, long or short. And, it just didn't feel right in my hands. I'm sure it's an awesome bass to some, but I never even bothered plugging it in.

It's funny how you can spend so much time and energy lusting after something, just to be disappointed when you actually find it.
