What's your white whale?

OK, at the risk of being a nit picking d**k, I don't think y'all get the concept of the White Whale. It's not something you supremely desire, it's something you are obsessed with finding so you can DESTROY it out of revenge. I'll go hide in a dark corner now ...
Good thinking Batman ; ), we are all just too young and happy.. it takes years for an obsessions to properly take root in your life and cause the required bitterness to really start destroying all your happiness, to the point where you want to go and destroy it as it has ruined everything you love..
You must have been really poor. They were only worth $100 back then. Heck, in 1974 when I first saw one for sale new it was only $100

I had one...sold it for 1850 almost 13 years ago, doh!This is my Moby: Rick 4002. Had one in white slip through my fingers almost twenty years ago. Could have been mine.
For me the white whale would be a Rickenbacker 4005 hollowbidy bass in White with black binding, pickguard, and truss cover!

Rick Turner Model One five-string. I'm not even sure they exist... never seen a Model One irl, only seen two pictured on TalkBass.

What is yours? Mine is the Ibanez SR2010ASC - The Ashula - 4 strings fretted, 2 strings fretless.
My mom&pop store has one of those. A little wierd. I would have prefered fretted until the 12th fret and then fretless on all 6 strings ... but I guess it is a lot more complex to do than what they did.

True enough, Ishmael. But modern use of the word "obsessed" rarely results in the obsessor being lashed to the side of a whale with a harpoon line. You can seek your white whale without wanting to be Capt. Ahab, just place a bid on ebay.
