Which 1980 bass is worth looking for?

If I wanted a bass made in 1980 I'd be all over this one (or the other one just like it at Elderly)...

Very rare, very unique and made for one of the bass greats (Stanley Clark)

Or, if you want to celebrate the era of pointy basses look no further than here...

They have a killer Mockingbird in an ultra rare color.

Then again if you've got $5000 laying around I'm sure you can find a 1980 Alembic Series One somewhere.

How about a 1980 Shergold Marathon 6?

But the Steinberger L2 is the archetypal 1980 bass.

If it were me though, I'd look for an Ibanez Musician (fretless!) or maybe an Aria Pro II.

(I recently did the same thing and bought a year-of-birth Fender Tele bass).

Ovation Ultra Bass with Kahler Tremolo
Guild SB-202
Washburn Chicago Force 8 BRB

No coincidence I own 2 of those 3 and if I could find a nice example of the Ovation I'd probably buy it!

+1 on the Washburn Force-8 BBR, but these were made from about 83 to 85. If it NEEDS to be 1980, grab a Matsumoku-made Washburn SB-40 if you find one: 3-piece set neck, Reverse-PJ, ParaEQ. Beautiful neck, great sound, great playability. Later made Force-40s will suit you equally well. Look at any Washburn up to 1985, they're all great.

EDIT: here's a pic of my 81 smurf-blue SB-40

Out of total curiosity, what bass from 1980 would you class as being worth searching for?

This is just hypothetical question, I am not searching for one at present, but I would keep my eyes open for one that is worth it as I think it would be cool to own a bass the same age as me.
I own a 1980 Music Man Stingray. Great bass!!!
