I have an Epiphone T-Bird Pro in the plain matte tan stain just sitting here waiting for a trip to Marty. Just trying to decide what color(s).

What I don't like is black everything: black hardware, black pickguard, black pick-up covers, black headstock, black neck, black body.
I do like the black body with white pickguard, and chrome hardware look. It looks classic.

Normally, I'm not into black basses, but I do like my Aerodyne Jazz. I think the smoky chrome hardware and the ivory colored binding make all the difference.

That one caught my eye as well. I like fenders, I just don't like pick guards

I have, and love sunburst- a couple said they hated them and/or found them boring. I wasn’t the least bit offended, because they were just expressing their opinions.

It’s all good.

I gave an opinion. I said that "some black basses look great" and "I do not find any basses boring".

I just don´t like all black basses too, It has to have another colour going with black like a burst: sunburst, blueburst, anything...burst.

My L2500 is blueburst, I love this colour because it´s one of the closest to my favorite colour: midnight blue.

For fingerboard, on the other hand, I love ebony

My opinion -- I prefer colors; the reality of my situation is that I frequently get gigs that require the musicians to wear formal attire and play black instruments, so I have a black P and a black J that are only used in the event of a formal gig.

I find any color's approval to be subject to the instrument of which it is applied. Color of the pickguard and other hardware must also be taken into consideration.

But this is not boring, IMO -

Yes, very boring! In fact I am not crazy about most solid colors. These are wood instruments, I like see wood (no wise cracks!)

I do like transparent color finishes that you can see the wood grain underneath.

for a while I didn,t like black basses but now I'm ok with but of course it is always better if it is transparent black over a figured maple top ...

Otherwise the only black basses I can't stand are the one with rosewood fingerboard ... a very dark fingerboard ( ebony ) or very pale one (maple).
