I got 3 with acres and just made friends with my one out back. They are effing cool. They loved my loud bass. I cannot be happier. Anyone got dope neighbors? If not... come to SC...? Lol...
I've gone outside for a smoke after an extended solo practice/jam session and found a small gathering of listeners hanging. I cannot complain.
I've got a very musical family next door. The father (my age) plays out in a couple of tribute bands (Bon Jovi, Thin Lizzy). His uncle is an old showband veteran, still plays bass in Steely Dan and Cream cover bands. The son is a session guitarist, who right now should be on tour with Niall Horan, regularly works on RTE (national TV station here), and teaches. Both of them real nice guys. Other side of me is an older lady(91), mad as a hatter, even as it lashes rain outside right now, she's up a step-ladder pruning a tree, singing some old show tune at the top of her voice.
Neighbor to my left, usually out of the country. Neighbor to my right, very nice older couple we rarely see. All others on the street are who you would choose if you ever had a choice.
I’m on a corner lot so have only really close neighbors on one side. They’re pretty cool. Airline pilot and teacher. I never crank the music at home (use headphones most of the time). We have an Airbnb ghost hotel house across the street. THAT sucks sometimes. Usually not bad but you never know who your new neighbors are going to be on any given weekend. There’s odd times I want to set up my PA and run a kick drum through the sub for a few hours. Neighbors behind us are nice but weird. Fortunately our houses are separated by 150’, two detached garages, two back yards and a back lane.
Neighbors, what’s that? My nearest one is about a half mile away. Last I saw them was maybe ten years ago. They send me a text whenever they are going to be doing any target shooting, you know, safety and all.
We are in a rural area and all of our immediate neighbors are pretty cool people. One is a retired AF test pilot who had a post AF career as an airline pilot and now spends his time in retirement as a bass tournament fisherman. Across the road is a retired couple who grow grapes and make their own wine and jams. The guy used to host a weekly acoustic jam session but after a while I was the only one who showed up so he eventually stopping doing it. A guy down the road approx 1/4 mile has, (along with is cows and horses and donkeys), some camels and a couple of elephants on his property. It's kinda cool to hear the elephants calling out when we're sitting on our back porch in the evenings. Then there's another rancher in the opposite direction who raises American Bison. He has a pretty good herd going now. They're such majestic animals and I really enjoy just watching them graze when they're roaming within eyesight of our place. Further down the road, about a mile from us is a small ranch that operates a Rodeo on Saturday nights during the Spring and Fall. They have a mariachi band that plays between the events and we can hear the music drifting on the wind when we sit outside on those nights. All in all, we're pretty happy out here in the sticks.
Let’s say that my neighbours are a lot like a Rick Moranis quote in Spaceballs. “I’m surrounded by $%^%^&” -Lord Dark Helmet
Mine are super cool. My voice teacher is 2 doors down, next door were a sax and trombone players. We've had quite a few backyard rehearsals on a former halfpipe turned into a stage, tons in the house. I live on a corner, a school is my neighbor in the other direction,
My neighbors were cool when I had a band in the garage... My neighbors are cool now with the drum set in the bedroom. (suburbs) Giant yards are good.
I guess I'm not cool. If I can hear a neighbor's music inside my own house with the windows shut they will get a knock on the door, then a letter, then a visit from the cops, then video evidence and a log for future legal action if necessary. I love music but do not want to hear a neighbor's music inside my own house when I'm trying to watch TV or enjoy peace & quiet. Don't understand how anyone can think it's ok. Sound crossing property lines is more of an invasion/disruption/intrusion than letting your dog poop all over my yard or setting up a picnic with your friends in my yard, etc, etc. I hate it so much that sometimes I wish I were deaf. I love to play loud at home but only do so in the basement. Do you guys not mind if the tables are turned? I just don't get it.
