I really enjoy a lot of the Drumeo videos where they have someone play their version of another song they (claim they) never heard.
In that series, you see some really fun stuff. But it brings to mind Stewart Copeland first for me. He's amazing to watch and hear in action.
Dennis Chambers figuring out Tool is unreal.
But personally, many years ago I was working at GC and met this guy who was in for the Drum-Off. His name is Chris Coleman. He was this super cool guy, so friendly, and I got to jam with him in the drum department before the event.
The effortless way he sat at that kit and just OWNED it in a manner like it was just breathing to him was fascinating to me.
He went on to win the store contest, then eventually the national one. It was awesome!
Was gonna post this.Myron Grombacher, Pat Benatar's drummer.
I agree. I particularly dislike random flailing in drum solos and I can live without machine-gunned slappy-sounding kicks. The ones that can execute without their arms flailing all over the place.
love me some Sneezeblood eyeball...especially on the electrolux! For me there is only one answer, but he goes by many names. Moses Heaps... Moses Brown... Moses DeWitt... Greasy Physique... Ron Jaworski... Russel Crowe... Henrietta... Cutie Pie... A butt with protruding arms and legs... Bob Weaver... The shortest man in show business...
Ladies and gentleman, on the drums... Mr. Jon Fishman.
Generally I agree - more accurate for a lot of them would be "never listened to properly".I always find claims of "They never heard it" dubious at best, no matter the instrument!
in direct "competition" Chick Webb and his band beat Gene and his band (Bennie Goodman) 11 May 1937 Savoy Ballroom, according to people who were there (and Goodman himself).Gene Krupa. He did it all first.
