Who sucks the most?

ASCAP, BMI, SESAC ... who extort small venues, return very little (if any) of any proceeds to the rights holder, and severely limit where musicians can play and audiences can listen to live music while they ostensibly fight FOR musicians rights.

Disagree wholeheartedly. CL is filled with motivated sellers, so lots of great deals. I've successfully bought and sold on CL many times. No seller/buyer fees, can see the product up front and try it out. You don't have to worry about relying on blurry photos, seller write-up that misrepresents, etc. What's not to like about that?

baileyboy is on the money. I've had great experiences on Craigslist. Found great things, met cool people, sold off gear, went to places I might not otherwise have gone. Off the top of my head I have at least 5 basses bought via CL. Sure, there are folks who list Squiers as Fenders and the unavoidable scamsters but they're easy to spot and avoid. I love Craigslist and am surprised it's on this list.

I would say AliExpress in my experiences. I contacted 4 different sellers about buying a bass from them and none of them would respond. I suppose that wasnt a bad thing since they didnt have the courtesy to respond I may have been sending my money to them and not getting my bass anyway,Im sure they would have acknowledged my payment. Cant ignore cash.

I think the CL thing has about run it's course. I used to find things daily there. Now it's all the same adds that have been there lingering for years and overpriced pawn shops.
I haven't bought an instrument off eBay in decades, had a couple bad experiences. My Guitar Center only had 2 P basses last time I went, both well over a grand and 30ft in the air.
FB seems to have taken over quite a bit of gear sales, I've bought quite a few things off people posting on FB in the last year.

eBay is ok, as long as you deal with reputable sellers/buyers with perfect or almost perfect feedback, you're safe.

UPS and FedEx have been fine with me so far, no complaints.

I'll swear to the end of time that I hate McDonald's, but I find myself getting coffee and breakfast from there more often than I'd like. Plus those golden arches are a godsend when you're driving through the Bulgarian countryside on tour trying to find Plovdiv and you have a busload of hungry musicians and crew. You can either take a chance at the dodgy place with a sign saying "Топла храна" with the mean-looking gypsies hanging around outside, or go for the Mac.

I always prefer small independent stores over the big chains. No Guitar Center here but I always preferred go to the Bass Gallery up in Camden over Turnkey or Soundcontrol in Central London. Then the recession hit and those two big places shut down, but the Gallery remains - good quality products, carefully selected stock and above all personality (friendly, knowledgeable staff who treat you with respect) meant it kept its loyal clientele.

As for the drummer, well, I always threaten to replace him with a Beat Buddy that keeps him in line.
