I totally see someone who lives in the US having the idea that the P is very widely used, but that's not the case at all in most countries where younger players do not exactly play or want to play rock.
And most music around the world nowadays has a low B, which is not exactly associated with a PB, so another reason for super J 5'ers to be the reigning basses of today's global scene.
ok, fair enough. I understand your reasoning. I assumed the worldwide king was a P, but I guess my assumption may be another example of how we can easily make broad generalizations based on the limits of our cultural experiences (geographical, as well as stylistic).
