Very interesting, I started on guitar when I was around 14. Gibson SG with an ebony fingerboard. Also have a USA Taylor acoustic guitar with an ebony fingerboard that is quite nice. When I'm shopping for a bass if it has an Ebony board I just don't really consider it. Again I'm not really sure exactly why. Just not my cup of tea.I love an ebony fingerboard on a Gibson electric guitar. For a fender bass, it just doesn't seem right.

That is a good thing. I love to start dialogue and always gleam new insights from an open discussion such as this one.Hmmmm.... I have owned many basses and I think that the only one that had ebony was an Ex Factor. I loved that neck. With acoustic, ebony is my favorite. My dread, Les Paul, and factor are all ebony. My other basses are rosewood fretless and phenolic. My gigging acoustics are graphite and my strat is maple. I guess fingerboard wood isn't a deal breaker for me. I never thought about that until I read this.
I'm still wondering how @Fat Freddy knows the flavor of both wine and urine.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, I have a bass with a wenge fretboard and I like it.
I've got "No Tan Lines".....Some varied studio work I did with an ebony FB

I don't like them on a fretless either. To me it's mostly a feel thing.I'm just wondering if I'm the only person to have such a strong aversion
to ebony fingerboards. On an upright or a fretless, not a fan otherwise.
I can't feel a damn thing through the callouses.....I don't like them on a fretless either. To me it's mostly a feel thing.
Why do I love ebony fingerboards? Don't know. But I do know I hate maple boards.I'm just wondering if I'm the only person to have such a strong aversion
to ebony fingerboards. On an upright or a fretless, not a fan otherwise.
You'd probably just tell me your approved ways I could spend it.I will mail you a crisp $20 bill if you can point out an example of me telling anyone what they should and shouldn't post.
