Why the hate?

Obvious-Troll-Is-Obvious-Meme.jpg

Disagreeing is NOT hating. Seems to me that those who use the word "hate" in this way really mean "You don't think like I do, therefore you are a hater" ... or ... "you called me out on my stupidity, therefore you are a hater". Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and facts are facts. If the only way to not be labeled "a hater" is to agree with everything anyone writes, why bother discussing anything at all? The biggest problem in any forum is that people do not know how to be civil, and regardless of chronological age many are emotionally immature.

How do you define Hate? If it is anything that isn't flowers, sweet music and sunshine, then I suppose there is a lot of that kind of "hate" here.

But, I don't see true hate for Fender, GC or you, you and you. I see differences of opinions. I see people who are not afraid to point out the good and the bad (e.g. Fender quality variability) in things. I see middle-aged people willing to share their wisdom to help the younger teen & 20-somethings avoid reliving the same mistakes.

I see thought provoking straight-forward discussion.

Oh WAIT A MINUTE - This is in the "Humor" section of the forum. Ah ha, ha, never mind :-)

I think there should be a database of everyone's basses weights, mandatory for membership, so when people who have no intention of buying the bass listed in question really want to know, they can just look it up in the stupid database instead of pretending they have $200 to drop on a Squier, let alone a $4000 Fodera. Want to know the weight? 10% deposit and it will be paid back upon sale of the bass.

you forgot to add that the anonymity and "bravado" one gets from hiding behind a keyboard while on the interweb.. folks will say stuff on forums that they would never say in a face-to-face situation.

It's gotten so bad on some forums that they NOW insist on using ones "real name" (or your FB/Twitter or other social media login) so that the members can no longer hide behind that anonymity.. and if you don't use your real name, they lock you out....

I'm a member of another non music forum where paid supporters have a couple areas only they can go to. People get to know each other by first name and you have a better relationship, better discussion without the bull$#@!. Seems to work good.

I'm all about debate and sharing different opinions and I should've clarified, there is lots of that here. If I'm in the market for certain product, I want to know the cons as well as the pros. I was referring to the constant effort some have on expressing their dislike of certain things even when an argument is not even necessary. Example:

OP: NBD! Yaaaay!
Post #3: many better basses than a fender but, whatever floats your boat... Congrats I guess...

I'm paraphrasing

Eloquently spoken.

I dont "hate" anyone, I will give an opinion on a particular subject as I see it. After all, isnt that what this is about. If no one contributed an opinion it would be pretty dull place wouldnt it.
It would also be very dull if everyone agreed on everything all the time. I dont expect everyone to agree with me and have no need for validation. Its not a competition.
I never got the whole "like" thing either, and what are those bonus points all about ? can I cash them in for a set of bass strings ?
