Will Smith just threw a $50m punch

He'll have an excuse to stay home even if he is nominated.

In other words his slap was like saying, I hate this ceremony and I'm going home.
Sounds like most of the viewing public. I honestly had no idea they were scheduled or even on until 'the slap that was heard around the world'. Might give them a ratings bump next year but it won't stop the circling of the drain.

Here's an imperfect but IMO interesting analogy:

I'm sure there are plenty of slaps in bars and nightclubs across America every week that don't get prosecuted. You know...a guy comes on to or insults another guy's lady. The boyfriend/fiance/husband slaps the offender and offers some choice words to him, and the jerk gets the message and backs off. No one gets arrested, in spite of all the witnesses.

My point is that even though the bar slap was technically assault because it wasn't done in self-defense or in physical defense of the woman, you wouldn't expect the slapper to be arrested for it.

Bill Maher's take on it. Caution; cuss words.

Bill Maher is clueless about so many things, and he always sounds so arrogant. Like his opinion is the only right one.

I don't agree with his defense of comedians in general. Or anyone else who thinks that comedians have to be accepted for whatever they say.

He needs to grow up.
