They are big, heavy and expensive. The Novation Bass Station II gets really close though. There are a couple side by side YouTube's of them. I like to have a 3 octave range but maybe that's not necessary.

Are you using your passive P bass or your actives? Just curious about your thoughts with the P bass and Reddi alone as a super simple set up for church / all IEM work?
My latest setup. Looking forward to trying it out on Sunday. I may kick off the Waterfall for a MIDI controller, but then again, I don't think I'm going to have to toggle thru enough snapshots on the Stomp during a worship set to warrant a separate MIDI controller.
I use both. I'll probably try the P this weekend. I can see where you wouldn't need a compressor at all.
The Moog Sub 25 would be a nice compromise. I don't really need all the power of the 37. But it sounds better than a Bass Station. Less than $900 For the Sub 25.
In most of the blind shoot outs, I have liked the Reddi the best but the size has always been a deterrent. That's why I went with a SLO (but I've been using some other pedals with it). I'd like to have an LA-1A before it and be able to use the Boost function. I'm a bit like @SteveC in that what I really want is to just come in and plug into a DI and be done but then I always feel like I'm missing something. Maybe I should just give the SLO a try by itself?
What tuning do you have it in? Seems like a vehicle for some serious rumble...
Anyone running the Downtown Express? I am not finding many long term reviews and wondering how well it works for a minimalist board? I was thinking it provides almost everything I regularly use and if I pair it with a Zoom MS-60b then I could throw in other effects on the occasions they are needed. Is the overdrive able to be slight? I like to use a sansamp for a light drive on the driving parts but all the demos I hear on the downtown have the drive cranked. How about the preamp portion with a passive bass? Any help would be appreciated as this will be used in a silent stage worship setting.
I was debating the SLO. It fits on a board. It can be powered by my CIOKS DC-7. It makes perfect sense. It was a practical choice for a guy who wants the smallest, easiest, lightest load in possible. Except that on every shoot out I liked the sound of the REDDI. Same with the LA-1A. Big. Expensive. There are plenty of smaller options that are good - the Cali for example. But the LA-1A just sounds the best. So now I have two of the biggest and most expensive pieces of gear you can have for a DI/IEM type rig. But it sounds fantastic. Either one could work on it's own. I could use the LA-1A as a DI like I've been doing and be fine. I think (based on 5 minutes) I could show up with just the REDDI (no compressor) and also be fine. Show up with both and there's no question - at least that's my hope. Won't really know until I try it through a real system at church on Sunday.

Anyone have thoughts on Cioks DC-5? Is it suitable for whatever could be thrown on a Metro 20 sized board?
Currently I daisy chain everything off a 1-spot wall wart and set everything up by hand (no board). I haven't been able to find a deal on a Metro, so I'm building a roughly 20x8" board out of birch ply.
I only run some basics, but occasionally add some guitar effects when I'm on treble duty:
TU-2 tuner > OC-2 > You're Doom > (Jekyll & Hyde) > Line 6 DL4 > Broughton AO HPF
Edit: In the future I would see myself adding a Rolls PM351 on there for my Bass + Vox IEM situation.

I've had the DC-5 for a few years now, and it has been great. I don't have a big pedalboard, or any pedals with a large power requirement. So the DC-5 has served me perfectly. No need for me to upgrade to a DC-7 so far.

I think you'll be fine with a DC-5. I used a DC-5 to power this pedalboard and it also had a micro-thumpinator underneath.
Hahaha, yeah it's the Deluxe. The Deluxe comes in a few different colors. The difference between it and the CB is that the CB has the HPF and a combined Attack/Release knob. The Deluxe doesn't have the HPF and it has separate Attack and Release knobs.A purple Cali!!!??

I thought it'd be a better fit since I was used to the Empress Compressor that had separate Attack and Release knobs and since I'm also running a separate HPF/LPF pedal.
Note that the HPF on the Cali76CB is quite different than a separate HPF. The Cali76CB HPF only operates on the compressor sidechain.
Do any of you fine folks have experience with the DOD Meatbox??
