Worship Bass Pedalboards

@SteveC your findings with the LA-1A and the REDDI not jibing together was an interesting turn for me but I suppose my pedal journey has been full of those kind of surprises. But, makes me wonder if any of you have tried the LA-1A and a Noble? The Noble has been with me for over 2 years and I'm super stoked about it. But I'm also a compression addict.
I loved the LA-1A. I thought I'd always have it. But like I said, when we did some A/B comparing, we all liked the sound of the REDDI by itself. I like simple so...

There are MANY people who love the LA in front of lots of DI's. I'm sure they will add comments. Like I said, I've never used compression until the LA. That's why I'm not sure if it was the compression I liked or the tubes.

Yep. Sound samples here: Tube Preamp/DI Sound Samples — Noble, Oracle, P-15, Super Stack, REDDI, Tonecraft, Fatboy...

After a number of changes, might as well toss in an update.

Chain: Studio Bass Compressor -> TU-3W -> Source Audio C4 (Hooked to DMCmicro) -> Spark Booster -> Pork & Pickle -> Doom 2 -> Old Blood Noise Endeavors Signal Blender (Loop 1 - Catalinbread SFT, Loop 2 Darkglass Harmonic Booster) -> Mission VM-Pro -> Wampler Terraform -> Source Audio Collider -> Tech21 Q-Strip.

Moved my comp to the front of the chain for space reasons. Not sure I'm 100% loving it in front of my dirt pedals, but I want to keep it in front of the C4 and having a level control right at the start of the chain to adjust to different basses is handy for keeping everything balanced for the sound guy. Mission volume pedal is back on the board after a failed experiment with a Boss volume, hard to believe the difference in feel and sweep on it. POG2 is off the board for space reasons, but staying around for fun.

New additions are the Wampler Terraform, replacing my DC-2W, and the OBNE Signal Blender thanks to a suggesting from another thread. Loving the sounds in the Terraform so far, to the point that I'm sad I can't stack some of them. No way I could fit or afford a second, so oh well to that. I was using the SFT as my amp modeller for months, but was never satisfied with the higher mids on it. Always sounded like there was either a blanket over the speakers or just too...clicky? Decided to get a blender, and had the DG harmonic booster lying around. Meant to throw a different amp modeler in the second chain, but this just added the right frequencies to compliment that good old Ampeg sound.

Still hunting for a replacement for the Pork & Pickle, can't get either an OD or fuzz out of it I like. Looking into the JAM Lucydreamer thanks to one Mr. Rizer, but not sure on the fuzz. The Doom 2 is great, I just have it locked in to a few super synthy sounds and am hunting for something closer to the distortion end of the spectrum than synth to compliment it. Thinking either the Catalinbread Giygas or the Orange Fur Coat, but more research is required. Also trying to think of a way to keep the Spark Booster on the board with all of that, because I am sick of taking it off and putting it right back on again a month later. I may break down and order the extension from Holeyboard to get room to keep it on, add the POG2 back on and maybe a modulation pedal. Already can't find a case for this damn thing, might as well, lol.

Tested out 2 things for the service this morning, 1 pedal board related and one not. First, is the Cube Turner. It worked perfectly with my iPad and the Music Stand program, and for less than $30!

And the other are the KZ ZS10 Pro IEMs to replace the Shure SE215 that the church provides. Wow! these IEMs are amazing, I could hear things that I couldn't hear before!

I splurged recently and picked up the coda stomp. Love it but it was pricey. How is the construction on the cube turner?

Tell me about your rolls setup. Here's my problem...sound guys do not know how to give me just more bass in the avioms. This morning I had the bass channel maxed out and every other channel at 2 just to make the bass prominent in my ears. If I run a parallel out of my board from the BDDI to a rolls and the out from the aviom to the rolls for everyone else can I then adjust the blend/mix myself to keep the bass up in my ears? Is it stereo for both or will it be bass in one side and everything else in the other?

Yes, you are thinking correctly, and it can be either mono or stereo depending on the signal. BTW, I have a LOT of Rolls equipment that I will be listing after Christmas, but if anyone is interested PM me. I wouldn't be able to ship until after Dec 1st, because of Holiday travel.

Looking at some on Amazon it looks like most have xlr input and one 1/4". Is there something with multiple 1/4" or 1/4 and 1/8" that you know of?

BDDI DI out to the Rolls XLR in and then pass the signal from the Rolls XLR out to the FOH. Take your Aviom line and run it to the Rolls Monitor in. Headphone out to your ears. That's with the PM50se and it works great! Just turn the bass channel down to 0 on your Aviom and then you'll no longer have it in the monitor mix.

Duh, I totally forgot about your thread! Thanks for taking the time to do those. It sure sounds good to me! All those DIs are really great on their own rights. I sometimes wonder if I'd be better off with a REDDI than a Noble, because your clips were a good reminder how deep the EQ gets. I have a more-is-more tendency with those sort of things and with a REDDI I wouldn't have that option to go overboard! I love to set it so the low end is really pumping, and that slams the tubes, then you use the low cut which is after the tubes. And that box just loves a hot signal which is one of the reasons I think I dig compression. Feed it a rich signal and it just blossoms.
