Good to know. Thank you! I'm thinking of picking up a buttercream jazz and would need a volume pedal as I use a pbass now and just roll on/off the volume knob as needed to fade in and out of songs but that doesn't work for me on Jazz's I'm not coordinated enough to turn 2 knobs at the same time lol

I also use mine for Praise and Worship. I want to add some pedals. Do you run your pedals through the effects loop?

Any of the higher priced Preamps, or DIs, are only worth your soundman. If you have a good one they are great, if your sound guy turns your bass tone to unintelligible mush and rumble then nothing you do on your end makes a difference. That said, they are great and I run a Khan every week regardless of what the sound guys are doing.

Here's mine, also doubles as my secular pedalboard.

I recently did some shifting around, I was using a VT Bass as my preamp and swapped that out for the new Ampeg SGT-DI. I also had an MXR BOD, but I've since loaded some octave-only presets on the Spectrum. Plus the Future Impact has a ton of them as well if needed.

How do you like the Ampeg SGT-DI compared to the VT Bass?

Sound guys are great. They mix bass forward and signal is split with low/high on different channels. Never muddy usually very clear and punchy. I'm very lucky to have foh guys that love bass

Love it. It sounds and feels more "authentic" than the VT... and I LOVED the VT. The clean preamp section is really good, but it comes to life when the SGT circuit is engaged.

Only thing I don't really care for are the compressor (I already run the Hyper Luminal) and the cab sims. Granted I haven't played around with finding different IRs, and the pre-loaded ones sound VERY authentic... they're just not the tones I'm looking for.

Sounds amazing in the PA just straight off the preamp tho, so I'm in no hurry to find an IR I like.

That's quite an endorsement! IRs is a matter of spending some time testing so I'm sure you'll find one you like.

I currently use a stomp but if I could use something even simpler I would be tempted :)

Right now it's a SR tuner to the Stomp to the board. I mean, it sounds fine I guess. I A/B'ed it at a gig with my old REDDI RIG and no one could really tell. That's why I made the move. I had $1,700 in stuff and the $500 Stomp was 90% there.

It could just be thy with IEM's and lack of pumping subs I'm just missing some tactile feel. But again, I used a cheap DI at another gig when I didn't have the right power for my Stomp and the band thought I sounded awesome. Some cheap Whirlwind DI.

Maybe I need to start with using the Stomp as just a DI with an eq and compressor. Leave out all the amp and cab stuff.
