Worship Bassists Unite

Hey guys -
I feel like an infiltrator. I'm a drummer in a praise band (CrossWords) out of Rochester, MI and we/re looking for a new bass player. We lost our guy after 4 years - he moved out of state. He was a great singer also, so we're in dire straights right now with engagements coming up, not just services.
Can any of you guys or gals (must be PC) help out with a lead for a bassist in my area? We would prefer an experienced more mature person - for reliability sake. We do stuff by Newsboys, Mainstay, FFH, Jars, Amy Grant, 12Stones, etc. Play to pray - no pay. Rehearsals on Saturday mornings, play concerts (at least 3 a year - two praise one free form), back up other choirs and do services. We also have affiliation with other churches and plan new horizons for this year.
GB y'all,
Ken

Xavier.....thanks man! prayers are very welcome.......had her put into the petitions at church as well this AM......Gma is still holding on, but barely......she is "fighting it"....not sure why, she has a lot of loved ones awaiting her arrival (and I am sure eagerly too since she is always the life of the party!)

Hey guys n gals:

The church my dad pastors sponsors a missionary in Kenya... he has been there for years, and is a great guy.... Well, I got this email today:

Joel and Jenna Cobbs live at Naivasha. I received a call from Joel early this morning. They are more or less trapped at their home. Houses, buildings and vehicles are being burned all around them. More church members and preachers have fallen victim to the violence. Soldiers have been called to the area but so far haven't done much good. Please pray.

Keep these folks in prayer...

Done - God's speed to those courageous folks who are missionaries!

PS -as a follow up, my G'ma went home on Sunday evening...just as I typed the message....(based on my mother's phone call).....

Update on the Cobbs in Kenya:

Dad IM'd me and told me that someone released all the prisoners from a prison near them, and that was the straw that made them desire to finally brave getting out of there. When he IM'd me, they were at the airport or had already flown out. Back to Botswana with still no truck but alive (they had already evacc'd once a couple weeks ago but came back to get their truck and supplies so they could minister in Botswana while they waited Kenya out).

Keep the folks there in prayer still... it is still a mess for everyone involved...

Hey guys, great thread. I am really just a lurker on this one but I appreciate the conversation. BTW: Have any of you ever checked out the Churchbass list? http://www.churchbass.org. I have been an active member there for probably 13 years or so. A great community of Christian players from all over the world. You do not necessarily have to play in church but many of the members do.

count me in!! warwick corvette 5 into a ampeg ba210sp. above all by micheal w smith, or (which i know is not a worship song per say but) consuming fire by third day. tai anderson doesn't get his props ya know.

Amen to that!! Tai has got it down tight!

Hi to all, I'm busy reading through the entire thread (a bit at a time) so I may not be up on the current conv. for a while. I'm not being rude, I'm just checkin' out all the Christian bros (and sis's?). Thanks for starting this thread oxygen (and everyone else too!).

*edit*
oh yeah, I play a black/black/black LB75 through a PB500 and an RL210 at church and have another PB 500/V410/V115 in "storage". And Thank God I have more sense (!?) than money....GAS-GAS-GAS!!!

You're going to Rwanda also? That's awesome!!

Yeah, going from May 29 to June 16. I got asked to go to Peru in April as well, but I don't know if that will happen. I got laid off again, so money is tight. If people could keep that in their prayers, it would be great. I need money and my boss needs some jobs so I can work. BTW my boss asked me to teach him to play bass :)

That's awesome..I might get a chance to play bass in Ecuador (my home country) this April at series of evangelical street concerts...starting to save money now so I can go and be blessed. What type of work do you do? God is in control and He provides to His children. Stay faithful to Him. God bless you bro.
