800$ being a price that I consider that all basses should be at least decent. But, we all know that this isn't the case really.

Post the bass you think is the worst you played in that price range and please do not flame others for their opinions being different than yours.

My vote goes for the Gibson thunderbird

PS: i figured i would add this considering we now have 3 saying the thunderbird, the same day i tried the thunderbird, i tried a very expensive PJB amp and thought that my $280 crate kicked it's ass in tone.

off course IT'S A JOKE
it's Flipper list in public profile.....

so why you like that kind of topics??? I'll never understand...

I'm thinking that shy of getting a bass with a rubber neck or one that just won't balance - there isn't much that isnt at least pretty decent over $500 or $600.

There are neck's I don't like - but you might ... There are pickup arrangements and electronics that I don't like - but you might ... I won't judge a bass with only a shop setu.. For the most part 'shop setup' is a misnomer.

The words Gibson and Bass should never appear in the same paragraph without a prejorative comment IMO. The only decent bass they ever made was the RD .... or maybe the Victory which was pretty much a Fender knockoff with odd pickups.

Of course I'm a died in the wool Fender (and Fender derivative) guy so that opinion only stands up for me ... Still they have a remarkable string of really bad sounding basses that don't balance well... I guess they have consistency in their favor...

Gibson SG reissue. Way over priced new. Played one at GC and was not impressed at least for the price they were asking. May look to buy one used at some point though.

I have to disagree with you here. I have an SG Supreme Reissue and it's a killer bass. I have the flame maple top one, which adds a bit of brightness to the sound over the regular one. But the sound is killer.

I agree with you that they are way overpriced though.
