I don't know about overpriced, but I can't stand a pricey bass with a string tree (I'm looking at you fender, lakland, etc)
Did you pull it out of a garbage can?? I bought mine new. I plays, feels and sounds close to an MTD USA.MTD Saratoga 5. Played like an old squire, but it sure was pretty though. Bartolini pups and select switch mid eq. Paid $900 used, but was more like a $600 bass.
I have to disagree with you here. I have an SG Supreme Reissue and it's a killer bass. I have the flame maple top one, which adds a bit of brightness to the sound over the regular one. But the sound is killer.
I agree with you that they are way overpriced though.
800$ being a price that I consider that all basses should be at least decent. But, we all know that this isn't the case really.
Post the bass you think is the worst you played in that price range and please do not flame others for their opinions being different than yours.
My vote goes for the Gibson thunderbird
