+1 to that. That was my most cost effective improvement I've made in all of my years in audio ... less BS.

That's one nice thing about the internet. Yeah, it feeds into the equipment buying machine, but at least you're not just getting one side of the issue like a magazine.

I used to discuss stuff like this with a wise man who was once my bass teacher 33 years ago. He told me, "You know what the best improvement you can make for your sound is? Practice."

Haha, snake oil in latin. It doesn't really have much direct relevance with ancient Greeks (since it's latin and not ancient greek), but it's still funny.

I remember laughing at these "audiophile" products when I first heard of them, but now it's not even funny.
But I've got to admit that it's a GREAT way to become rich, as it has been stated before.

Seriously, I've listened to my bass rig with these cables in either direction and was not able to discern a difference. Guess I don't have 'golden' ears.

The more I think about this, the sillier it gets. Gold plated ends on fuses can make your gear sound better (provided they're installed the right way round for AC)? It's unthinkable that there's actually people out there who believe this and they are still allowed to vote.

Maybe we should lobby for the introduction of some sort of "dumb tax"? It could apply to profits from any product where the advertised benefits were wholly unsupported by any sort of rational thought, but still believed enough by a minority of the population to generate sales. Judging by some of the email spam I get, it wouldn't have to be restricted to audio products.

The revenue obtained could be blown on something frivolous, like improving science education.

I changed the knobs on my amp to true audiophile quality knobs and the difference is AMAZING!

Just tonight, I took a paint pen and wrote 11 at the end of all my amp knobs travel. I took a sharpie and colored the white line index on the knob, it is now black so you can't see it. I then took the knobs, rolled them all to the top and with the white paint pen drew a line that aligned with the 11 I wrote on the face plate.

Now all my knobs go to 11 and I swear, not only is my amp louder, the extra kick provides the most amazing tone!
