Amps/cabs aren't my jam, I just need one good rig. Pedals, on the other hand, are starting to be a real problem.

I thought I had too many pedals so I eBay-ed a load. Now I'm gradually buying the same ones back...

On the plus side I'm selling surplus bass rigs to pay for pedals

Since I got to my 3 amp limit I have bought and sold two amps to stick with it. But it sure would be nice to have both those amps for the occasions when they do their best work. But 3 is the limit and I get everything done with them. So I have have GAS but also a safety relief valve.

I only buy used bargains so don't lose out on trading away. It's a cheap hobby rather than a collection disease. We could call it a partial remission of GAS to GTS. Gear tasting syndrome.

I sold the SVT CL, Sound City and Traynor, the power amp and preamp and commissioned a custom 300W tube head (custom designed, Matamp style preamp + SVT active Mid/Freq control, Traynor style PI, Hiwatt power section, with a Slave In). I sold the Eminence loaded Dually and the Ampeg 410HLF. Now I keep the 1x10 at home with the GK for recording/practice, then move the GK to the Faital loaded Dually for jams and use the custom 300W tube head with the Ampeg 810e for loud/heavy stuff. Which I don't get to use nearly as much as I'd like lately. So basically I have a massive tube powered rig and a light portable Class D/Neo rig which transfers to my home rig. I do miss some of the vintage amps, they had lots of character, but between what I have and my pedals I get all the tones I like/want/need.

I was just reading the other thread about "which amp should I buy" thinking I should get a Mesa subway stack... And then someone mentioned that you can run that amp at 2 ohms, so I would need THREE cabs to use it to full potential......

Yes, you def should get a Mesa Subway stack. And actually you can safely run four 8 ohm cabs with the D-800 amp--so figure you need four of the Subway cabs, to max it out.

(Uh...somehow, between buying used, buying new, and trading I wound up with two heads and five cabs. It's a good thing I really like the way they sound, and a good thing they work really well onstage with my band.)

OP, you got nothing to fret about. Do carry on with your acquisitions.

I have a collection that is artificially swollen by stuff I don't use anymore and need to sell, stuff that is in disrepair, plus some acquisitions of stuff I do use.

Amps: GK MBF800, Aggie TH350, GMB200, Eden WT800, Ampeg SVT 4 Pro, SWR SM-400 (needs work).

The GK's work regularly, Eden WT800 occasioanally. SVT stays home (heavy!).

Cabs: Barefaced BB2, One10, Four10; Aguilar SL-112 (2 of them); Eden 4x10 XLT; SWR 4x10 Goliath III; Fender Pro 4x10 (top two 10's tilt upward); SWR Goliath Jr 2x10 (speakers blown); SWR Big Ben 18'; Trace Elliot 18 (ancient).

Barefaced stuff goes to gigs; Aggie SL-112's is the home studio rig (w/ the Th350); Fender Pro 4x10 goes out to gig when I need a so-so rig for hosting jams. The rest is unused for 3+ years (18's have been in storage for 5 years) .

Combos: Fender w/ 1x15" of some kind; Roland D-500

(neither is good but the Fender makes a good practice space rig.)

Anything but the Barefaced, GK, Aguilar stuff, and the Eden WT-800 is theoretically for sale, so lemme know .

Amps don't give me gas. IMHO the bass is the instrument. The amps and cabs are just tools I need in order for the instrument to be heard. If I can do that on the cheap with minimal gear I'm good. My dream is to have a gig where I just go direct.
