you know you're a bass player if the female lead singer likes to stand just in front of your bass cabinet during the really "thumping" songs. ;)

Alot of my female friends like to sit on my amp for that reason... They just sit down and five seconds later start smiling uncontrollably.

Once a guy sat on it and started smiling, I stopped playing and threw him off...

You know your a half baked giraffe (was getting sick of, you know your a bass player) when:

- You ask your guitarist if you can borrow his guitar for a minute... and he asks if u want the strap too... and you just say no, proceeding to dispel any myth that your a lesser musician by playing all those damn powerchords and pentatonic solos standing up without a strap, supporting the guitar with your fret hand

- You are always trying to convince the guitarist that its not easier because it has 4 strings... and tell him to switch for a minute, while you sound competent on guitar... he's having too much trouble pressing the strings down hard enough and getting much sound at all plucking your E string with an ultra-light pick

- Or (true story) you ask to borrow the guitarists guitar, and say, oh wow... yours is so much heavier than mine... and when he picks up your bass, he almost falls forward, realising just then, why I sit down alot ...

- You had to borrow petrol money off your girlfriend because you replaced your strings that week ... :p

- You have more fun jamming with the guys in the music store (whom you know all of them by name) than you do with your band.

You know you're a bass player when any time you injure any finger, you imediately take note of whether or not it will impact your bass playing and to what extent.

*L* yes... I'm gui;ty.. especially after using my soldering iron...

-You bang up your shoulders and back snowboarding the day before a gig, and just get a stool, instead of standing!

-You play air-bass while listening to hold-music...

-You and the drummer argue over who's gear weighs more...

-You and the drummer get along...

-Your 1x15, 100 watt combo is your practice amp...

-The alto section in your church choir refuse to sit in the front row of the choir loft (true story!!!)

-Active pickups aren't something you attempt in a bar...

-Your head is rackmounted...

-You understand cab/stage coupling and do your darndest to make it happen.

-You date women (or men) with a big bottom.. just because...

You get mad when you tell people that you just got front row tickets to see him and they don't know who he is :)
Happened to me at least five times today..................
I can't wait!

You actually think about taking a video camera to a show to record some free lessons for yourself to watch later. :bassist:

you spend more than an hour every day on talkbass
you cant stand there being anything in a room that rattles
you walk in time to ambient music, songs in your head, or any thing you can hear or feel with a steady beat
you think the creater of http://contrabass.com is a genius not a weirdo
someone has asked you if you wish you played the flute
you can recgonize the grain and tone quality of numerous domestic and exotic woods

I am so guilty of that it's sad

Wow 5/6!

you know you are a bassist when...

...when your girlfriend (or wife)starts talking about her new Manolo Blahnik Fodera Rose high heel shoes and all you can think about is the AJ presentation model.

i.e.:
Manolo Blahnik Fodera Rose:
Invalid Link Removed
(on her mind)

Fodera AJ presentation model:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
(on my mind)
:D

...when your colleagues notice that you always have that stoned look during business meetings and only YOU know that you were then running through some brilliant bassline in your head (like AJ's "IGY" on Fagan's "Nightfly", or P.Mcartney's "Silly Love Songs", etc, etc...)... all whilst everybody else was trying to impress the boss with their "important" rant...

Or...

Everytime they creep up behind you to peek at your computer screen, they see only images of figured wood or basses...

:bassist:

When your psychiatrist thinks that you've got tics in your hands, but you're actually just training your fingers...

beebeebop:
That's so true... I think many people have thought I'm stoned or so in school when I'm actually picturing how to play songs... :)

You know your a bass player when you blow/spend all your cash on bass stuff when your supposed to be saving up for a new car and insurance.
:D

+1.

when, instead of going to L.A and Mexico for a month with your lady friend. You go out and get a smoking Fender Japanese '62 Re-Issue (in Olympic White/Rosewood board/Tort Pickguard) instead..
