- when you correct people when they say "Oh, you play bass guitar" replying "Its an ELECTRIC BASS, not a bass guitar, ELECTRIC BASS is not the same instrument with less strings, im a BASSIST not a bass guitarist, get it right moron" Then you pass out and start to drool all over the floor.

- you are fully aware that Sting is a bassist also, and have the huge satisfaction of telling guitarists and singers.

- have been asked "dont make it so... how can i say it... so complicated".

- when doodling in an exam you make sure the bass you have just drawn on your paper has a long neck and exactly four stings.

- people comment on the wanking muscle of your arm and you repeatedly tell them to no avail that you play slap bass.

- you pause video's every time you can see the bassist in the shaddowy depths of the stage, averaging three times most vids.

- never get any attention from groupies...

I have experienced all of these. Bang on.

Rap defines the role of the bass. as you mature you will eventually understant this. get a copy of the Jay-Z unplugged album and listen to Leonard Hubbord play the pockets. ;)

When Victor Wootens "Show Of Hands" is your favorite CD because there aren't any of those other annoying instruments covering up the bass lines. And after the CD is finished a single tear runs down your cheek.

When you are out with friends and after you get 5-8 beers in you all you do is complain that you wish the pinky on your left hand was stronger/longer. Followed by why they are all idiots for not knowing who Jaco is. Then after explaining it to them you want to knock out the guitar player who says "So he was like.. The Steve Via of bass?" And Scream... "NO! Steve is Nothing to Jaco! Jaco is GOD!!!!!" then fall off the bar stool and hit your head on the floor and no one even attemps to help you up.
Ok.. maybe it's just me

When you consider getting a full back piece tattoo of the portraits of Jaco, Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, John Myung, John Patitucci and Les Claypool floating in clouds shaped like Bass Clefs.
Ok.. maybe that one's just me too.

You get thrown out of a club/bar after asking a hot chick at the bar if she'd like to see how strong your fingers are.

not specifically funny, but...
YKYABPI...the keyboor (sp. intentional) player tries to tell you that, in lieu of a drummer (who found another band who doesn't have this twit), the rhythm patterns on his setup are perfectly adequate, and you tell him "NO!", then start another project with his guitarist... :)
that's not to mention that you get the chord progressions right according to the version you are covering, and keyboor doesn't, because he can't... :smug:
...if this same keyboor calls you an a------ to all the other musicians he knows, but tells other bassists that they need to sound more like you, and he keeps trying to find ways to lure you back... :D
i know that i'm ranting, and i apologize...but i wouldn't wish this guy, or his attitudes, on anyone. i won't even talk about how this wanker tried to horn in on our project and tell the geet/writer how to go about his bidness...ooops! i guess i did!

Shoes for Industry!

When somebody asks why your bass has only four strings, you tell them that the guitarist's two extra are just for show, he doesn't know how to use them, just ask 'im.

*You slap your leg/table when bored (Have done)

*You take your tuner into the toilet to see what note it flushes in(Have done and nearly dropped it)

*You find yourself muttering 'picks are for pussies' under your breath

*You detest 'shredding' in guitar solos

*When people ask what instrument you say you specifically say "An electric 4/5/6 string BASS guitar" and you always refer to your instrument as your 'bass guitar' as opposed to just your 'guitar'
