Oh! I take it back...there was one back in 2010 or so. It happened while I was playing basketball...it looked like a giant had taken the whole court, picked it up, and slammed it back down. The rims rattled for about a minute. We resumed playing.

94 along with 71 were the relatively "big ones" for the Southland. They both knocked. Down a freeway overpass and they both knocked down a building and caused about 50 deaths.

The rest of them were like thunder storms compared to a large tornado hitting.

I was a little nervous driving over some of the larger overpasses on my way home.

You ever been to the 1906 Epicenter in Olema? It's just North of you in Marin County. A very cool little earthquake walk you can do and see a picket fence that got ripped in half and displaced by about ten feet or more.

No I haven't been there, but I do ride my bike often on Sawyer Trail that runs right along the San Andreas fault.

Tornadoes, yes. Hurricanes, you usually have a couple days to prepare for--I'd take those over 'quakes or tornadoes. And I say that as a South Florida native. I spent 25 years there and never really went through a major hurricane. I missed Andrew in '92, but my parents went through it--even that wasn't bad if you lived north of South Miami.

In Chicago, the only natural disaster we really have to worry about is a blizzard. And those usually aren't too bad if you're a city dweller. Between the many snow plows and the traffic, the roads tend to clear up pretty quickly.:)

You Norcal guys been to Heinold's in Oakland (Jack London Square)? From what i remember from when i was there the saloon's pilings sunk in the mud in the 1906 earthquake and has stayed the same ever since. The slanted bar in the place is nuts!

Huh, I spent about a week scouring Jack London Square while tracking my bands album and never saw that place. I would have been there in a heartbeat. I did however waste a few hours and brain cells at Merchant's Saloon right there a couple blocks from Yoshi's. Every stop to Jack London Sq. requires a Merchant's visit! I have a gig in Oakland tomorrow night, maybe I'll try to hunt down this Heinold's, it sounds awesome!

It was near the southern end of the "square". Where were you tracking? I was up at Sharkbite Studios across the train tracks from the Bev Mo by Jack London Square when i found the bar. We were mid mix and needed a beverage.
