I didn't recognise it, but my first thought was part of Tomales Bay. There's a bunch of places that it sorta looks like.

Tornadoes, yes. Hurricanes, you usually have a couple days to prepare for--I'd take those over 'quakes or tornadoes. And I say that as a South Florida native. I spent 25 years there and never really went through a major hurricane. I missed Andrew in '92, but my parents went through it--even that wasn't bad if you lived north of South Miami.
In Chicago, the only natural disaster we really have to worry about is a blizzard. And those usually aren't too bad if you're a city dweller. Between the many snow plows and the traffic, the roads tend to clear up pretty quickly.![]()
Think of that stretch of highway where the town sign is always removed.
Here's three more of the same area.

Bolinas Lagoon
Didn't even need the extra pics for that one![]()
Here's a pic of Tomales Bay from the cockpit of my Cessna
I used to ride there on my bike (BWM R60/6) with my buddies. They would ride down from Santa Rosa where I used to live and meet me in West Oakland where I was living during grad school. We would cross the Bay Bridge into SF, then head north into Marin. We would then take Hwy 1 past Stinson Beach to Bolinas. Didn't Smiley's have a pool table? My memory is going as this was circa '90-'92.
