You might be a Californian if...........?

There's an Alberto's walking distance from my house. I've never heard of this California burrito, nor been to an Alberto's for that matter. But I will have to clear out a breakfast & lunch to try one of these things

You haven't been to Alberto's and you call yourself a Southern Californian? :p

I'm thinking of picking one up after my post-work mountain bike ride. I'll report back!

:D

please do!

I've reached the age where 'heaviness' doesn't taste good anymore.

Just about the same here...though heavy, greasy craziness has been relegated to the "once in a blue moon, and must eat nothing but veggies the rest of the day" category for me :p

Speaking of greasy insanity, Gecko next time you're around my neck of the woods hit up Taco Factory on Newport & Walnut! Best carne asada I've had in my life son...

They have them further north at Alberto's. It's carne asada, french fries, and cheese. I've never had one but it does sound intriguing.

Some places here in SD serve the California Burrito with Guacamole too.

It really all depends on 2 things for me if i decide to go the route of a California burrito.

1. Are the fries cooked or just soaked in cooking oil for 3 minutes?

2. Do i trust the Carne Asada?

Soggy, greasy fries (to begin with i mean, i know will they end up like that in the burrito) are just not cool in my book and carne asada is hit or miss with some taco shops.

More mexican food! Here's a good one. California-style all the way.

Behold! Leftover tri-tip enchiladas. Last night's meal!

Ordering tacos in a Mexican restaurant is like ordering a hot dog in an 'American' restaurant. Tacos are street food, and the best ones are always sold on the street.

Platanos con creama
Papusas
Mole enchiladas
Chili Rellenos
Tortas
Okay, now you got me started.

Pupusas :)

You might be a Californian if you appreciate the difference between Mexican, Salvadoran, Peruvian, etc. cuisines.
