Ray34HH.
A Diamond and a Keeley Bassist compressors.
An Ampeg RB115 &
Magma and Fodera strings.

This SBMM 34 HH, that I just got from G.C. is nice to play---so many tonal options......but I just could not help the 'gas' for the EBMM(USA) Special 4HH...... So, I just bought one on Reverb. Honestly, I do think the Ray34HH is a great bass. I would recommend it to anyone, but running it over to G.C. tomorrow.

Congrats! What year is yours? As I discussed in the NBD post I did the same day of this post, I first was interested in a new Sterling I liked the color of, that was on a good holiday sale. I asked if they had a Stingray I could compare to it. I ended up walking out with the Stingray. They are expensive, obviously, and not worth the money difference, vs the Sterling, to some people. IMHO, there is a big difference in what you get, as there should be for the money! It was a used 2014 that I got from GC for $1,645.

I read a fair amount of negativity about GC on here. I have purchased 3 of my 6 basses there, and been very happy with them. I like to support my local shop when it makes sense, but when they won't discount something more than 5%, it's tough sometimes. The two new basses I got at GC were discounted about 30% on sale.

Enjoy your new baby!

Thanks. Yea, I have a '98 Ray 4H EBMM and it's mint. Bought it off Reverb. The original battery was still in it, and it ate through the wires. Somebody had it in a closet for 20+ yrs. It plays like no other bass.

I Just bought a 2010's Special, 4HH that still has the plastic on the pickguard(from Reverb)--most likely same case--somebody never played it. It was about $2k.

I have bought 10 basses from G.C. in the past year or so. I like G.C. cause, I get military discounts and if I don't dig it, I return them within 45 days.

Yea ....the Sterlings are a great Intermediate offering. I just cannot, see myself picking it up as much as my USA Ray. The California's just cut through the mix effortlessly and the truss rods are better, everything is just better, etc.

May I ask how many you have?

I currently have 13 electric basses (14 if you count a flying-v kit my friend recently got me for a gift which I'll be building soon), 2 acoustic/electric basses, and 1 EUB. I also have 2 Greek bouzoukia, and 1 acoustic guitar (which I don't play. I have it around in case any guitar player friends come over and want something to strum).

I think I'm done buying stuff. :)

I got myself a Hanukkah present that I pickup on Tuesday from Pat Wilkins and take over to Eric's Guitar to do final assembly. It's another RondoMusic Hadean bass uke, violin/Hofner style that is most comfortable for me to play now with nerve damage to my neck spinal cord. Eric installs a fully adjustable all metal bridge with piezo pickups in each saddle, makes the pickguard and truss rod cover, adds an on/off switch for the battery so I can keep my wireless pod plugged in between sets. I have a soundhole sticker made and I make the headstock decal. Pat always does a great job with the finish. Here's a mock up.

Love it. Never seen that bass before, what model is it? How does it play, sound?

It was a limited run done for GC about a dozen years ago , they were never available here in Canada. It's a Korean made Electromatic , but came with TV Jones pickups. It's got flats , and carries a wonderful woody thump. Beautiful tone. It's a big bass for medium scale , but plays wonderfully. The model number was G5123B.

Not really Christmas presents, but probably should be. Picked up both of these off of FB Marketplace this past month. Deals were too good to pass up!

My first "real" amp, a Mesa Walkabout Scout 12 in near mint condition. Loving the tube pre!

Then yesterday, an EBMM USA S.U.B. Stingray. Completes my Leo Trio!
