What's the balance like on the fortress? I think what I'm actually asking is what's the angle that it naturally wants to hang? Does it want to go to a 45' like the Streamer or dive like the Corvette?

I had a late 90's Warwick Thumb ( thru neck ) years ago which I stupidly traded in for a different bass. In hind sight that was the bass that I should have never let go.
Years ago, I had a sweet musicman sterling that was part of the ball family reserve. Solid rosewood neck, beautiful cherry burst finish, and had a J/MM pickup config with tons of tonal variety. I was unemployed and so I sold it, and I regret it. That was such a sweet bass.
Early 90's Modulus Q5 (seen in my profile pic). I have played P's, J's, high end stuff and everything in between and I still go back to this one every time.
It has been a LONG time since I have posted anything, usually lurk, but Talkbass is such a great resource, so I need to get back in the saddle and give back, thought this was a great way to jump back in... I enjoy most of my basses very much, and rotate thru them regularly, but my favorite Desert Isle axe would have to be my '89 G&L SB-2. It plays so incredible, no effort, and it was the bass that I first understood what it meant when people talked about "mojo". This bass defines "mojo"...

I've had so many over the years, and don't collect. Most have been trial runs. If I don't bond fairly quickly, I move it. I'd have to say, my favorite overall, that I still own, is a Yamaha BBNE2. Runner-up for previously owned would be a Conklin GTBD-7. Have to give massive props, though, to my longest serving bass - a Tribute L2500. It was a monster.
Just got the one in front - a gift from my wife - so that’s DESTINED to be it. (It’s the best playing/sounding bass I’ve owned but haven’t had the time to truly satisfy this thread yet.)

Not difficult at all out of the ten I've owned in 48 years. It's this custom Marco Bass:
After a lot of basses, my Epi EB-0 is my player.
Kissing cousins--an '08 MIG standard Corvette $$, with upgraded brass nut, shiny black paint job (over original black stain), Delano pups and Noll 4-band pre-amp. It's my only 4 string that's not in a closet or the garage waiting to be sold (the avatar photo Hamer jazz 4 is lent out).
My favorite bass ever is one that I have never owned (and never will), but have played a bunch of times: my friend Colleen's early-70s Precision with natural finish. Unbelievably playable, with gobs of righteously thick-but-open classic P tone. I've never played another P that comes close to it.
No neck dive at all. It hangs naturally with up right angle. I also have a 95 Corvette Proline that does neck dive. That's another reason why i like the Fortress so much because of the great balance.
It would be a tie between these two:
Ibanez SR400 P/J
Modded mine with Dimarzio Model P/J and an Audere 3-band preamp. Comfort and tonewise, she's the best for me. My SRX3EX feels better to play fingerstyle (the pickups are perfectly positioned and have a thumb groove built in) but the tone isn't as good. No harm in having both though
This one - originally started as a backup, but became my #1 (and only).

Found used at Carl Pedigo's workshop. It's unlike any other "Lakland" and fits me better than any bass I've ever played.

Sometimes I still can't believe it found its way to me.
This is the instrument that taught me that fewer great instruments is better than lots of good ones. Since then I've halved my collection, replacing good instruments with fewer great ones and haven't experienced GAS in years.
