Your favorite bass, ever?

I've owned several great basses over the years and still have a few of them. I know it's difficult to single out one bass that you might consider your favorite but just wondering if you had one choice what would it be? For me it's my 1995 German Warwick Fortress One Masterman. It's the easiest playing and best sounding bass of the 30 or so basses that i have owned.View attachment 4126578 It would be the last one that i would ever sell.

One of these two. Cannot decide.

Could you? 98 Dolphin V figured Ovangkol , wenge fretboard, wenge and azfalia stringers. Ebony headplate , brass JAN 3 Neck through, concave back, convex front , dolphin inlay knobs, 10# total.

20xx G&L silver flake (Marty Bell) matched headstock, white fretboard binding, markerless ebony fretboard , 1/4 sawn neck, alder body. Just under 10 #, K-Mod.

The smart play is to grab Jeannie's Bottle and run for it. (but I don't pick favorites between my bass guitars...)

My favorite is a 1972 Jazz Bass that I bought new in 1972, long before I knew about Geddy Lee.

well I am not even sure the exact number of basses that I have owned ... close to 100 I think ... maybe 80

Here are some that I liked a lot

Of all the basses I own, I would give the title of "favorite" to the last bass I would ever willingly part with. This would be my black holo-flake Squier Jazz Bass, bought new from GC in 2001 for a little more than $300.

Why would this Squier, the rock-bottom cheapest bass in my collection, be my favorite bass ever? Because it had been boughten for me by my dear friend Dan during a rough stretch when I was just about outdoors. We lost Dan last year. I will never part with that bass, my favorite bass ever.

I had a G&L L2000-E years ago that I still regret selling. The reason I sold it was I wasn't playing it hardly at all after being gifted this (my current favorite) Carvin LB75 by my wife.

I've never really thought about which bass is my favorite but if the criteria for a favorite is the one I play the most, it's my G&L ASAT bass. That could also be because it's the one quickest to hand, being on a stand and not in a case...

This one for several reasons; it's light, it can go from P bass to J bass, smooth and punchy to snarly and everything in between. Also it almost plays itself. This Goodfellow bass was made by Lowden.

Sorry to hear you miss it. It is outstanding value for the price, I paid 500 Euros.

I upgraded it with Fender Pure Vintage '64 pickups, VBT controls and a nicer tort pickguard.

I've had many basses over the years .. MM, Fender..but this Ibanez ATK has been my go to, do it all bass for quite some time now.

I know it is a bit ... Egocentric but my Ritter Roya 6 string is the best bass i came across.

I tried many other basses and the thing is, i most of the time find a flaw in a bass which is resolved by this one.
Confort, sound, electronics, mass, finish...
I still would like to have some other basses like BassLabs, Alembic, Lefay, Old metal neck Kramer...

My ‘54 P-Bass just plays itself. I have several basses that could be my number one, but the old 1954 P-bass always saves my ass with a deep thump and soaring highs. It can hold down the bottom and sit in the pocket with the drummer, but can jump out on top of the mix just by digging in.View attachment 4127199View attachment 4127200
