Your favourite bass pre-amp???

I had a Mike Pope MPP-2, it was fantastic!

I also had an Eden Navigator, which I thought was a pretty good pre.

I always wanted to try one of the Alembic pres, just never got around to it...

not exactly but very close. there is a Solid State driver in the out circuit of that pre..

The F2B is closer and has no Solid State IC in its circuit.. Both sound real good

From the list I'd have to say the EBS Microbass II (awesome features) or the Darkglass B7K (overdrive options rock). Tried the Aguilar Tone Hammer and hated the AGS feature. However, the reason I don't own the EBS or the Darkglass is because I already own and love my Ampeg SVP-Pro...so I bought a Darkbass B3K to give me that sound as my "raunchy tone".

I didn't read the opening post. Sansamp is the only one I owned of the ones listed plus a B3k not the BK7. I would like to try the Aguilar someday, dont like the overdrive from the clips I've heard, but I'm not big into the overdrive of the VTBASSDI as well but still enjoy it all the same.

I'm not the most objective, the Darkglass B7K is the only true "preamp" I've ever owned if you don't count the capabilities of multi-effects units. But it is awesome and I love it.

Ones I wouldn't mind trying out someday based on clips include the Tone Hammer and Meatsmoke.

I'm a sans amp guy. RBI, set nearly flat, blend at about 1 or 2 o'clock, with just a little bit of bite with the gain. With that i can use the Aguilar pre in my bass and my hands for pretty much anything.

I really like the Aguilar Tone Hammer for cleans but nothing beats the Darkglass B7K for OD IMHO.
