Your Signature Bass?

My sig bass would most likely end up being a P. Fiesta red a la Paladino. Probably a vintage white pick guard. Not sure on electronics, maybe just a P, maybe a P/J. I could mod a Squier to that pretty easily.

I'd have two basses... one 5 string and one 6.

Peavey t-40.
flat black, ebony fretboard
chrome hardware. glossy black pickguard
rickenbacker blade style inlays

standard t-40 pickups.
but with an active passive switch.
stacked knobs
Bottoms: master Tone, Volume, and Blend
tops: bass, mid, treble (for active mode)
coil tapping switches for each pickup.

5 string would be my rock bass, 6 string would be my blues/worship/country bass
its a bit Frankenbass, but why the heck not.

my son's signature bass. a frankenbass, made with his Geddy Lee neck and an ebay jazz body that I painted red and had the Jack Casady mod... a '62 precision pickup installed right below the neck, so the bass now has 3 pick ups.

Just curious, why a GSR over a standard SR?

While I understand the familiarity, I highly recommend trying out a real SR body (especially if it's an SR700)

There would be 2
#1 Maple Body Jazz reverse headstock, Badass bridge, strat style output jack reverse body cavity. No pick guard . Each pick up would have its own tone and volume pots, with a toggle switch. Bridge Pick up would be a Jackson EMG and neck pick up would be a Ducan Design.Lower cut away would be reshaped back the the end of the fret board.
Neck its self would be a bigblock Inlay 70s Jazz neck maple fret board.
#2 a Slab body P bass ,ash or maple ,(like a Mike Drint, ) small headstock reversed maple neck .
59 reissue split pick up like on the Mike Drint(sp) but with a Fender areodyne in a jazz bridge postion. Stacked Vol/tone pots
and resahpe the lower cutaway back to the end of the fret board.

My signature? A Spector with passive electronics (that aren't HZ's).

I love Spectors and I love their tone, but the sound passive basses (i.e. p-bass) get when plugged into some fuzz is so much better in my opinion (which is right ).


EDIT: A Spector P-bass would be just lovely.

Yep, another one. If you could have your own signature bass, what would it be like. Be as descriptive as you want.

I would want a bass with the string spacing and neck dimensions of a late 70's - late 80's Rickenbacker 4 string. Neck-through design. Pickups would be a quiet but hot, passive split P/J setup: Bartolinis, maybe? BadAss II or III bridge. A master volume, individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup. Would like some intensely curly maple on top, dyed a shade between teal and ocean blue. Body made of mahogany. Smallish headstock for ergonomic reasons; less neck dive = more comfort.

I am actually assembling the parts for this right now, but it will be a fretless with a stock J Bass neck. Maybe I should have gotten a Warmouth neck (small headstock), but I already had the Fender neck lying around...
