Zon basses - is everything OK ?

That's a pretty light (and lightweight) mahogany!

24 months doesn't sound all that bad and obviously things can happen to affect the timeframe. Fodera quotes a 24 month build time. The difference, of course, is sticking to it.

Hey, last I heard bass was in paint in April, but Martin did mention they are very short handed at present so they were hopeful it’d be done by May.

I think they’re probably pretty close. Not pressing em though, sounds like they’re doing their best.

Yeah, the end of this month will be the 4 year mark on my 14 month build. There are some murmurs of progress, but I won't believe it until the bass is in my hands.

It's a new build. Order was placed at the end of June, 2021. There have been some manufacturing setbacks along the way that were out of Joe's hands, but I think mine was placed on the back burner due to the custom nature of it. I'm suspecting more and more that the orders that were placed entirely from the menu are getting delivered a lot faster.

@RodRy Your order was similar to mine, but mostly 'on-menu'. Have you heard anything new about yours?

Nope, no news in months, partly because I've not initiated contact in that time. Seems like maybe I should reach out.

For what it’s worth, I got relatively quick results by doing the following:

1. Being in touch regularly
2. Tracking down every reason given for the delay. At one point a pickup delay was given and so I got in touch with Bartolini and confirmed the pickups were shipped to Zon.
3. Once I got “we are close, maybe a month out”, I was fortunate enough to have a trip planned for the Bay Area. I coordinated a specific time where I would be available, and I made plans for pickup of the bass on a specific day, time, and place. The bass is fantastic, but I think there’s a good chance I’d still be waiting as well if I’d just sat quietly and hoped for an update.

This thread has become like my version of a soap opera, lol.

My thoughts are out to those waiting on basses. What's especially mind-boggling is those of you who have waited years for repairs! If they're not even close to ready for you, why not let you hold onto the bass until they have time for the repair?

For what it's worth, I just received my vb4 after 4 years since placing the order. I was quoted 8-10 months for the delivery but then all sorts of "issues" came along. Martin and Joe are nice and passionate but they should definitely get their act together. The pickups excuse doesn't cut it anymore either, I think they mentioned pickup issues a couple of times. They're nice basses but the process is frustrating. Good luck to all those waiting

Glad to hear that you finally got it! I know the wait sucks, but I hope you enjoy the bass.
