For those interested in the Linux discussion, I bumped this thread in the recording subforum with some info on my Linux setup (I've been working with it over 20 years, and running it exclusively for 5 years or so.)

Silly question from a newb - what is the difference between the B1Xon and the B1on?
The X has the built-in expression pedal.
If it were a lot more money, I'd say no. But buying new, for $20 more, I'd get the x model. I have one, usually just use the pedal for volume control. Actually not used it a lot yet. I am pretty sure you can assign it to almost any parameter on one "fx pedal" (virtual pedal?) in a patch. For stuff like that, is it worth the X?
Get the X. it also allows you to turn off an effect while playing, something you'll find very useful.Got ya - sounds like that might be overkill - I just need some simple standalone effects.
K.I.S.S. for an older dude and all that.
Thanks,
Just checked the effect list on the B3n, and call me crazy this is still the best selection of effects zoom has to offer in a Bass pedal........
Who loves the heaven am sim?Whats your fav amp? In this video I juice the crap out of the 90's beat, 85 bpm I think. the first is a stock preset "Chill" I turn the auto vol off after the first loop, slicer off also. I adjusted the curve on the auto vol to about 10:00 position. The particle verb patch is my own custom, I cant recall any settings on it.

True bypass? Nope but, the tuner has a setting that is a pass through (straight sound) I use that as a bypass.Does this pedal have a true bypass? They were talking about that on a review. I just need a cheap pedal for a couple of songs, so not having a bypass would be a deal breaker.
... Les Claypool style setting.

Bass, mid treble: to taste depending on the bass you want to use. You essentially want a clear sound. On my active fretted I need to lower the bass, on my fretless I boost the treble etc...
