Zoom MS-60B announced... at last

Not as a DI, not as a headphone amp, and not as a USB digital audio interface. Haven't tested it yet, but I suspect it may not have enough output to function as a pre for a power amp, either.

Compared to the B3, the big idea behind this one is that it's "just" a regular stomp box. The B3 packs a lot more "Swiss army knife" capability. The MS-60B excels at ease of use, and has more flexibility in terms of where it can be placed in your signal chain.

Anyone have any more experience in a live fire situation? Are the presets manageable at a gig? Definitely looking at this bad boy for the wedding circuit but want to know how easy the hands-free operation is for getting back and forth between presets to set my expectations.

The preset thing is easy as long as you have everything completely mapped out and remember where you are. In preset loading mode, every click of the stomp increases one preset. But unlike most pedals, you can set which presets it cycles through with the A/B/C/D,etc function. So if you only have a verse and chorus sound, for example, that'll be super easy. But if you want this to be all of your effects for a whole set and you have 15 presets to go through, it might be a little more difficult. Should work out fine, but if you accidentally hit it when you're not supposed to, you have to hit the button until you go back around to the beginning. Hope that makes sense: shows you how that is done.

My plan is to put this thing in a TB looper (I have a loop-master with 6 loops) so I can "pre load" presets before turning on the loop, otherwise it's instant.

It's one of the unfortunate drawbacks of having a single boss sized pedal with a single stomp, but the logic is pretty good for getting you through everything given the limitation of one button.

Thanks for the deep link. So if the footswitch scrolls the presets, does that mean you have to keep clicking til you get to the "off" position for turning the pedal on and off (which i'm guessing is why you're using the looper)?

Correct, though you could have blank presets where you wanted the pedal to bypass. So you could map that all out too.

The only thing I can think of that would make this whole thing better, acknowledging the limitation of having only one hands free button, is to have the ability to create "playlists" like on the Line 6 stuff. So instead of creating a whole sets worth of the A/B/C/D presets, you could bend down, load the next song, and have that be ready to go - whether it only has one preset or five. Would be easier to manage a set like that. But yeah, putting it into a bypass looper makes the most sense for me, for sure.

Great video there will be plenty of new users who will be hitting that play button thanks for taking the time to do a really informative video you would think the company with all of their resources would make a few videos that they can post for "free" on YouTube ?

Got to use my MS-60B through my full bass rig last night and it's a keeper. It's just really good at a lot of things. I don't like most of the drives (metalzone, ODB-3, and DS-1), but the Bass BB and Big Muff are both pretty sweet. The step sequencer is a lot of fun (combine that with a compressor in front and fuzz behind - sweet). We spent a lot of time dialing in octave and synth sounds. The octaves are awesome. Tracking is really fantastic and with the OC-2 clone you have tone controls which is new and fun. The synths have some cool sounds in them, we didn't get anything too perfect and I still prefer the Super Synth, but I'm going to keep working at it. Would love to buy back the pedalboard real estate that the Super Synth wants to occupy!

Highly recommended!

Got it in about an hour ago, very similar to the MS-50G but different in all the right ways!

The OD/distortion tones aren't spectacular but way better than other multi fx units. Totally usable in a live situation.
The BDDI sim also has a mid-control which is cool!

The 160 is the talk of the town. It's certainly the most transparent sounding compressor on the 60B. I really liked the sound of the optical comp as well. Very vibrant clean.
