I went ahead and did just that. I'll post any response that i get for those interested.
I'm in too. I have been using a Zoom 506II for several years now. I mostly use it as a tuner and compressor. It also has a very cool fretless simulator.
Yeah those old plastic boxes have some good sounds, my old 506 is out of retirement at least this week for an unplugged show we are doing.
Even I think the fretless simulator on my B1X sounds pretty cool. Btw, you're already #18

Hey all- I have a question, but not sure if this falls under the Zoom category or in Amps, so i'll try here first...
I have a Zoom B2.1u that I use with my Acoustic amp head. The amp head has both Passive and Active inputs for my bass. Without the Zoom connected, I know which input to use on the head obviously. But my question is this: When I have the Zoom connected between my bass and my amp head, should I always be using the 'Active' input since the Zoom is a powered unit??

It's really up the which way sounds best, you do want to be careful not to overdrive the input stage on the combo.
I spoke with another bassist/audio guy at my work, and he said that based on glancing at the specsheet, it looks as if the Zoom already has some padding. So you probably don't need to pad again by using the Active setting.
I use both a G2 and B1, and love them sold all my other pedals since the Zoom's ended up being all I used.
Hey thanks for all the good suggestions here, I've got a B2 that I use mainly for headphone practice at night that would be great to use in some live applications, especially theater pit work.
HI, I have a B1x and really like it. I'm a beginner bassist and tend to keep to the simple clean patches like setting "B1" and "B3" (Hartke).
Usually I am practising by playing along with an iPod and it sounds great. But when I practice with headphones, I still have to plug in:
Bass -- B1x -- Marshall practice amp -> Headphones
iPod____________________|
What I would really like is a super portable setup such as:
Bass --- B1x --- Headphones
iPod ____|
Now I am quite familiar with simple analog electronics and do not mind if I have no warranty.
I can see that there would be room to add a ¼ or 1/8 stereo jack socket.
Is anyone else interested in this project? (Given the warnings about warranty etc).
Basically this will involve finding a suitable point on the 'output' side of the circuit ideally before the final output driver, where we could mix in a line-level signal, perhaps via series matching resistors.
Then a small amount of drilling and bashing and we'll have a super portable practise rig.
Anyone interested with similar electronics skills?

I got my B9.1UT last week and after rplacing the end on the power supply it works well. I little tuffer to program then I would like, but the sounds are better then either the GT6B or the BP200. I wish I would find a chorus to turn on and off like the reverd and delay. Any B9 guys want to share secrets? Thanks for all the info bassbrad, you did not talk falsely!
I have a B9.1UT i downloaded the editing software from Zoom I got a midi to usb cable, When I try to send or recieve a patch, my laptop starts, but it says diviece timed out. I went through all the settings on the B9 tried all 16 xhannels for send and recieve. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?? HElp

I bought a Zoom 506II about a year ago ($20) and I'm finally trying to put together an effects board on the cheap. I find there's a number of useful sounds. It works for me!
