100% agree with you irt the tone settings and keeping the mids pretty high. I usually have the mids set somewhere around 8 to 10 depending on how where the range and scoop are set.

I think that all 3 have a similar tone stack. To me, the range control is what is called the frequency control on the 100 & 300. The 100 & 300's fixed deep switch replaces the 200's variable scoop control & the fixed resonance switch replaces the 200's variable resonance control. My EQ settings on the 100 & 200 are almost identical.

Like many, I had originally fallen into the mid scoop trap. With most of my previous amps, setting the mids that high would've made them sound too brassy or nasally. Not so with these. There's a very noticeable reduction in volume starting at any mid setting under 6½-7.

Seeing how your 200 has 6550s (what did you mean by "upgraded"?), I thought I'd recheck mine. As I thought, it has JJ KT88s but what I didn't see before was that they're from The Tube Store as they have their logo/sticker on the bases. They must be well matched as the amp is very quiet with zero hum.

By chance, have you tried using EL34s in your 100? I'm curious about that but haven't heard one using them yet.

Nice knobs on your 200. Are they older Traynor knobs?

I like the Traynor cabs too. Used to have a TC1510 but I sold it & the first 200 I had during a rough stretch. I have a really nice condition TC810 but now I'm considering getting the TC210 & TC115 Neo as I saw a pair on sale for a decent price last weekend and would definitely be enough speaker for the rooms I play. Currently, I usually run the 200 through an Eden Nemesis 212 when playing out. Folks around here basically have a bird at the sight of an 810 plus the 212 only weighs about 36 lbs.

Do you notice any tonal differences between the 1510 and the paired 210 & 115?

Nice, I finally found a recent thread with YBA200 v1 model owners!

Mine just arrived and I replaced the JJ 6550’s power tubes with a matched set of Gold Lion KT88’s. Kind of nervous to go for it and let the autobias autobias itself. I figure if it fries something then I’ll take it to an amp tech and pay to repair. Since mine shipped to me with the power tubes removed, I am taking the opportunity

I’m looking for any YBA200 owners who have replaced their 6550’s with KT88’s, please share if you can.

I can’t see myself ever wanting to play a 24 3/4” scale bass but I will readily say that these look really pretty.

If the bridge were shifted back and the fretboard changed to make this a 30” scale (with the pickups left right where they are) I could see myself being really interested in it but, as it is, I’ll settle for enjoying how it looks.

Anyone can “make” a bass guitar now if they have a design and a contract with an Asian facory. In fact the design is probably not necessary.

It’s surprisingly intuitive to use. I recorded my Moog Mother 32 and used that to morph… the Mother 32. I added some compression, delay, and reverb in Logic. My next experiment will be recording some chaotic percussion via some NLC modules and my 1010 Bitbox and see what that sounds like on the Mother and other things.

Gamechanger really did make something cool here.

And I just had a lesson where I attempted to attract my teacher's attention to my intonation and instead we mostly worked on using my bow to make a more focused sound in some key areas (and highlighting certain note changes so the pitches came out more clearly). We made a few changes to fingerings too, but that was mostly to facilitate musical shifting rather than actual tuning.

I got one two days ago (EHX version). I am always looking for the perfect pedal that keeps "my sound" but adds a little hair in a pleasing way. This pedal's goal is probably not that. Out of the box, experimenting for about 30-40 min, it wasn't doing it for me, and I was going to return it to Sweetwater. Today I remembered about the internal trim pot. The manual says turning the trim pot completely clockwise sounds most like a vintage Percolator. I tried that today, and I am much more pleased with the sound I am getting on both the drive and fuzz sides. It does loose low end, more pronounced on the drive side than the fuzz side. I play through a mesa BD800, so I engaged the deep switch when using the percolator and that helped a lot as a quick fix. It's not going to be my everyday go to for the sound I'm thinking of, but now I do think I'll keep it and enjoy it. All of this was at home, I do have a show Friday, and I will take it with and see how it sounds in a live setting.

New frets installed, not totally finished but well on the way. Still need to level and crown them all, also waiting on a new file arriving so i can finish the fret ends properly.

I’ve seen dot neck Deluxes from that period that were in ash with a natural or burst finish. A friend (now passed) had a natural finish 5er.

Here’s a burst 5er with ash body. Alder would be used for solid colors.

Let me clarify. My profile lists some pretty cool instruments. I can find imperfections (to me) in all of them that most could not see. But they serve the purpose they were purchased for perfectly. Hope this helps. :thumbsup:

I joined here when I was 18 and now about to turn 42. This place is a relic of a bygone internet era that I miss. Pretty sure I still had dial-up in those early days. Besides my Hotmail email this place is the only connection I have to the old www.

I sometimes enjoy looking back at threads here from the early 00’s. Most seem to be deleted. Last year I remember looking up old threads from around 9/11. It’s wild reading folks opinions from back then as it was happening.

After that it sounded fine, lots of sustain from the neckthru construction. But I never got used to the shape so I ended up selling it a few weeks later. The croocked neck Squier is now my main bass after it got a new neck and some other upgrades.
