In Nashville, everyone is sensitive to such issues. I don't understand why this is a hot-button thing, but it is. I won't say any more.

looking for info/advice on vintage Jazz bass

I agree with the others to be a ‘73, ‘74
neck. The script writing and tuners are similar to my ‘73 Precision.
Maybe it needs re-fretting, as mine did due to using round wound strings for many years. It can be restored to a condition equal to how much you want to pay. 👍👍

Question on new finished "Primo" bass bodies from Allparts

I received my body today, and fit/finish were perfect! They even pre-drilled the strap buttons, neck mounting holes and the bridge. Spent about an hour on mine installing a Baguley aluminum neck and the other bits, and everything bolted on perfectly.

Tone Shape - Preamp Pedal before SVT heritage

Since you have an Ampeg, which has a pretty "flat" preamp with everything at noon, maybe a preamp with a Fender-type EQ preamp might give you some different flavor than anything you currently have (personally I moved on from my SVTs when I played my first Mesa Bass 400, which has a Fender-type EQ that was more what I wanted to hear). With a tube amp, my personal approach is usually to use fairly light drive levels and get increased drive flavor from extra volume hitting the amp's own preamp tubes harder- that is a little tougher from a Heritage SVT though since you don't have a Master Volume so you can't push the preamp into saturation without also making the amp dumb loud! So you'll have to find a preamp that has decent sounding drive of its own (though the SVT character should still smooth it out a bit) unless "dumb loud" is your typical volume..

Some popular Fender-type preamp pedals that can drive are the Shiftline Olympic, Sushi Box Underground Accelerator, and Origin Bassrig Black Panel '64 (there are a number of others too, but that's a start to sniff around with if you want!)
I appreciate the feedback and direction.

I’ve been looking at either

- Jad Capo
- Aguilar Preamp
- sushi box
- source audio zio

Sonicake Pocket Master - A $65 Swiss Army Knife?

So, I gave it a test drive. It's functional, has some interesting capabilities for a small, not expensive device. But - I'm returning. In my post-retirement, zero income universe, it didn't meet minimum requirements for the $65 expenditure. I'm in the minority, I'm sure, because of my current and permanent financial situation. It's a decent pedal - just not for me. I didn't find it bass centric enough, either. Advertised for guitar And bass, but 95% of the presets are for a guitar.
Yeah, the lack of more bass stuff has kept me away, despite being able to do NAM and IR. was just going to be a headphone practice device. Would be perfectly happy with something cheaper that doesn't do the effects but does NAM and Bluetooth. Would make a really nice portable practice headphone amp.

Fender sunburst update 2026.

I mean, to you, no? But I don’t feel like proving anything to you.

I worked in a high volume shop pretty recently and all the non chambered fenders were above 9 pounds. Even the guitars. I weighed them.

I have not played an american Fender from 2012-2017 that I thought was bad.

Only basing my opinion off of the literal thousands of fenders I’ve taken out of boxes.
They vary now and always did. Any day of the week, 365 days a year, you can source any current Fender model bass under 9 lbs in under 10 minutes online.

Jazz Bass Or P Bass?

You would probably like that Reverend, with 3 passive p'ups and crossover/blend switch. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one, but they are never in stores.
I have one!
Very unique and fun to play, all settings sound great, vintage sounding but with more hair.

QC is excellent, so buying online isn't an issue, the neck is a bit chunky, so if you can jive with a Spector or P bass, you'll like it.

Double Bass Donald Raphael Garrett

This is a really impressive record. He takes some interesting arco solos and his time feel is really beautiful!

Ira Sullivan and Red Rodney Quintet has had a stellar lineup of young lions through the years, including Gary Dial, Michael Formanek, and Jay Anderson.
Many others, for sure.
